any perspectives or advice?

Out of state is very hard for UNC.

I would take the ACT again.

My son raised his ACT from a 31 to a 34, with zero studying.

Even getting it up a point or two might make the difference.

I am curious. Why do they have an award for “male” student of the year?

Instead of just student of the year?

Also, I am curious why your ACT is so low, relatively speaking, that is. Certainly, a 30 is a very good score, but I see so many kids on CC who are valecdictorian level students, but then you find out that their ACT scores are very far from the 34-36 range. If I saw that and I was an admissions officer, rightly of wrongly, I might conclude that there is either grade inflation, or that the high school you are going to is not that great. Hence, my recommendation to take the ACT again. While your grades are impressive, it is my belief that for UNC OOS, I think you need to raise your ACT to about a 32-33. And as I said, you may well be able to do that, like my kid did, just because of mere familiarity with the exam.

I wish you luck, because UNC is supposed to be a great school to go to.

But of course, it is better to do some actual prep work.
