<p>Hi. I'm Dan, chinese american urban public school in texas. do I have any chances at UT, Rice, Duke, NorthWestern, Cornell?</p>

<p>GPA: 3.92 Weighted (I really screwed up my fresh and soph but I'm pulling myself up drastically this year)</p>

<p>Class Rank: 90ish/800? (just an estimate. important to note that I'm not in 10% though I should be by the start of senior year)</p>

<p>SAT I: Old: 1450 (Math: 740 Verbal: 710)
New: (will take in June. It must be higher than a 2100, so assume that as a worst case scenario)</p>

<p>SAT II's: Plan on taking Math IIC, Bio, Physics (Assume 700 or better on all)</p>

<p>AP Tests: World History (3), [these can be strongly assumed: Calculus AB (5), Statistics (4), English Language (4 or 5)]</p>

<p>AP Classes </p>

<p>10th: World History
11th: Statistics, Calculus AB, Chemistry, English GT
12th: Physics, Calculus BC, Biology, English GT, Latin Vergil, European History, U.S. Government, Macroeconomics, Psychology</p>

<p>all my other classes for these years have been pre-ap if possible (took tennis and orchestra though fresh & soph year)</p>

<p>community service: volunteered at an educational math and reading center for about a year before becoming an official employee there, lots of events for our school's key club, teaching chess at a chinese school on sundays, probably lots more stuff will come before senior year.</p>

<p>misc: scholarship to St. Mary's University ($10,000 over four years or $12,500 for five years if I did engineering there) due to the Pre-Freshman Engineering Program. Duke TIP last summer....there's more that I can't think of.</p>

<p>Sorry alot of the stuff says "assume this, assume that". as a junior, there's still things I haven't done yet but you can take my assumptions to be strongly accurate, else I wouldn't make them. </p>

<p>I'm planning on doing Biomedical Engineering which I know is really hard to get into for Duke and pretty competitive for Rice/UT. I'm a rather pragmatic person, and It seems to me the only chance I have is UT...and that may even be a stretch. Still, I've seen people get into the others with worse stats than mine so....I'd appreciate any opinions!</p>

<p>Why did you quit so many activities after junior year?</p>

<p>whoops sorry, forgot to edit that. I'm a junior right now, but I know i will be doing those next year. Anyone who reads this, understand all the activities junior year to be carried through to senior year as well.</p>

<p>Ronald Reagan High School. Max GPA is theoretically a 4.4 (but that's if every class you took through all of high school was honors/ap and you got a 100 in every class before weighting - i.e. impossible). I believe our classes' highest ranked has a 4.15, but again this is all approximation since we don't use the 4 point scale. I have roughly a 98 weighted and our highest is a 104. I just converted it to the 4 scale for the sake of common recognition.</p>

<p>Well, if your school doesn't use the 4.0 system then you may not know that your GPA may be higher than you stated. In order for it to be a 4.33 you'd have to be in all honors/AP classes and have a 93 or above in all of them, not a 100. </p>

<p>4.0 - A (93-100). You can generally only get an A+ (4.33) if it's a weighted class and you would ordinarily have an A.</p>

<p>no our school adds 10 points of weight for all honor / advanced classes (10 out of the 100 scale that is)</p>
