I feel fairly confident about my academics but am worried that my awards/extracurriculars are too thin for Rice and UT’s engineering honors and maybe even its engineering school.

Are you IS or OSS?? Look into automatic admission for UT if you are IS but sometimes is not good because you might not get the major you want. Overall your stats look great, good luck!

I’m IS which is good and have auto; my concern is with getting to Cockrell which I’ve heard is extremely selective compared to the other schools.
Thanks

I predict that you will get accepted at both. 1580 is excellent. UT will offer you engineering honors. Rice accepts many IS students with high SATs. Just make sure your essays are good.

Rice and UT are nothing alike. UT is an impersonal behemoth, surrounded by a livable fun small city. Rice is 4yrs of never-ending bandcamp, surrounded by a impersonal behemoth city no-one wants to live in.
