College List (in terms of personal interest):
Stanford (REA)
UC Berkeley
Georgia Tech (EA)
UT Austin
Rice
UCLA
UCSD
Texas A&M

Stats:
GPA: 4.00 unweighted (transferred from public school to private school after sophomore year; left my old school with a 4.625 weighted; currently have a 97.1 GPA weighted)
Rank: N/A (when I left my old school I think I was ranked 25/902)

APs: Comp Sci, World History, US History, Calc BC, AP Lang, AP Lit (all 5’s)
taking both AP Physics C tests this year, possibly Macroeconomics

SAT: 2320 (800 Writing - 11 essay, 770 Math, 750 CR) - only took the test once
Subject Tests: Physics, Math II, US History (all 800s)

All operating under the assumption that I have good essays/rec (essays are solid in my opinion, and I can’t know what my teachers wrote about me, though I assume it’s good)

Not sure about engineering schools so I’m going off of my knowledge of the overall universities.

Stanford - High Reach for literally everyone, but you seem a good candidate
UC Berkeley - High Match if OOS, Low Match if from Cali
Georgia Tech - High Safety
UT Austin - Low Match
Rice - Match
UCLA - Match
UCSD - High Safety
TAMU - Safety

If you’re interested in any other schools I certainly think you could look at some other selective colleges. Your objective data is competitive for any school, and you clearly do a lot outside of school. Stanford is your only real reach. That said, this advice is coming from a kid with 4 reaches so take it with a grain of salt.

Also forgot to mention that I’m applying Engineering + Plan II Honors for UT Austin, if that changes anything significantly.

Thanks! I just recently found out that I was accepted to TAMU, so good call on the safety haha. And for Berkeley I’m out-of-state, so I guess that would make it a low match.

Stanford - High Reach only because of how low the number of people they take
UC Berkeley - Match if in state then low match
Georgia Tech - High Safety
UT Austin - pretty much a safety
Rice - Match
UCLA - Match
UCSD - High Safety
TAMU - Safety

I dont see any reason to worry. Youre fine. The UC’s will suffice for your safeties (exluding berkeley of course). Other than that, stanford is a reach for everyone, but ur def a competitive applicant.

Stanford - Reach (Just because it’s Stanford)
UC Berkeley - Match
Georgia Tech - High Safety
UT Austin - Low Match
Rice - Match
UCLA - Low Match
UCSD - Safety
TAMU - Safety

Congrats on TAMU! Yep, you should be well matched for all of them, probably even Stanford. A friend of mine got in with around the same stats, but it all depends on ECs and personality! Best of luck!

Anyone have any suggestions as to other reach schools I should apply to? I’m not a big fan of cold weather, but I’m not going to let that stop me haha

Honestly, I think you’ll get into almost all of these schools for sure, except for Stanford, which is a reach for everyone! Although, for Berkeley, I’ve heard it is very difficult to get into the EECS major, much harder than the others. Rice is becoming more competitive, so I put reach, although you have a better shot than most.

I’m not going to bother with high/low match or safety because I’m new to this and I honestly don’t know whether high means good or bad.

Stanford - Reach
UC Berkeley - Match
Georgia Tech - Safety
UT Austin - Match
Rice - Reach
UCLA - Match
UCSD - Safety
TAMU - Safety

I think you’ll get in into every university! Maybe Stanford may be a little harder than the others, but you nave all the criteria to be a Stanford student
