I play college rugby, write for The Observer (the official school paper), in Amnesty Internatial (currently planning a human rights festival), and am currently studying Brazilian Jujistu. I play percussion and am currently playing in a psychedelic jam group. I also am a research assistant to the head of the Chem department; I do pretty expensive and complicated experiements for a professor with a small group of select chemisty student. The neuroscience has asked me to do research through the Bard Summer Research Institute.

In high school I was class treasurer, played four years varsity football, had multiple bands which recorded and played shows, and held two jobs for almost all of high school. I had a 3.2 UW at private catholic and was 32/177. I took the hardest course load possible.

I'm also a nationally-ranked powerlifter. I came in 3rd at States in JV sophomore year, 1st as States in Varisty junior year, and 3rd as States in Varsity senior year. I plan to compete in the NY Open.

I'm applying to Wesleyan, Vassar, Brandeis, and Boston College. Will I be a competitive applicant?

Definitely. Good luck

you're competitive... not a "shoe-in" but i really do wish you the best!!! you may get all four!

Are my schools matches or reaches? I'm so anxious.

How much does Bard experience grade deflation? I ask this because you said you want study neuroscience, but your chemistry and biology grades are mainly B's. And your ACT science score is a 26. These are questions you might have to clarify regarding your academic credential.

Your ECs are solid and might help you along.

The science classes are heavily deflated. The average grades in my Chem class this semester is a B-, and the average grade in my Bio class is a C.

Two other Bard kids are applying to Vassar and Brandeis. I have a better grade in our Biology class than both of them, and last semester I did much better in Chemistry than one of them (the other one didn't take it). Will that look good?

I talked to one of my friends at Bard who is applying to Vassar and Wesleyan for Neuroscience, and I think I have an advantage on him. We have the same GPA last semester and for midterms, the same Intro to Psych grades, but he hasn't taken any neuroscience classes or any sciences. He did do much better in high school (3.9), but seeing as we have similar grades here and he doesn't do anything really, I hope I have an advantage.

bumppppppp
