Superselective schools, no hook, and nothing about you from what I see makes applying anything more than a dice roll. You do need to bring those test scores up. 30 won’t cut it for Duke, abd will only put you in the running for West Point.

Strong creds for West Point. Duke might want higher standardized test scores. Good luck getting the Summer Leadership Seminar–which is no guarantee either way. Some denied the seminar get admitted, while some participants get denied admission into West Point.

P.S. Leadership & athletics are hooks for USMA at West Point.

Service academies love applicants who excel in both athletics and academics. I suspect that your chance of securing an acceptance at West Point is higher than your chance at Duke.

FYI, you’ll have to get one of your U.S. Congressmen to nominate you for West Point. I believe such nominations are limited in number, so look into requesting one early.

FWIW, I wouldn’t place too much importance on the Boys State extracurricular activity. The Boys State which I attended (in CA) was a joke. First of all, it’s unnatural for a political/governmental simulation to have participants of only one gender. Secondly, I didn’t get how someone could run for a leadership position while making “campaign promises.” The promises were meaningless given the short duration of the camp. It’s a great idea for a leadership experience…just poor in execution, in my opinion. shrug

Thanks…I was looking into boys state as it was recommended on west point’s website. And yeah I’ve looked into the nomination process, I plan on getting in contact in February which is when the process starts
