Chances at West Point

Hi I really want to go to West Point, and am trying everything I can to up my chances. I just wanted to know where i stand as of now. I am a junior in High School, and i am in a pretty competitive high school in tennessee.

Here are some of my achievements:

-Advanced Choir ( most likely president next year)

-AP US History, English language, and psychology

-Varsity baseball (2 years)

-class rank, around 100 out of 360

GPA 3.76

roughly 70 hours of community service

-Member of Beta Club, French Club, and Interact

-Member of Tennessee Scholar Program

-APT (Advanced Positive Thinking) Coach at a local church, also on Praise Team

-Who's Who Committee

This upcoming summer I am really trying to get into Boy's state and the Summer Leader Seminar. I also will be taking my ACT in december and plan on making a 29 or higher. Thank You So Much!

I went to USMA few years back and all that stuff looks good. I would bump up your community service. I used to volunteer in hospital emergency rooms for a 24 hr period and doing that a few times a month is an easy to get hours. Outside of school, are you a leader in any organization such as civil air patrol, Explorers, Boy Scouts (eagle scout?). My suggestion would be to spread your effort outside of school and church. Also, get to know your MALO really well. They have quite an impact on the admission process. Hell I even volunteered to babysit for my MALO to improve my chances. Get to know your MALO and any old grades who donate quite a bit. Start going to West Point Society luncheons and dinners. Besides the usually school crap, networking can carry a lot of weight in the admission process
