Hey guys! I'm new to this site and Virginia and I just moved from New York. I'm just wondering what my chances are at W & M. I will be a senior at September.
SAT: M:680 V:650 W:660 (1990 10 below my goal:( )
gpa: 4.0
rank: 7 out of 132
Since my old school had no ap's I plan to take 4 ap's for my senior year
my ec's are pretty average. Other than being captain of Varsity golf and being in National Honor Society I dont haveve much else.
Well thx for ur time! And plz reply!
Oh yeah and I'm an azn male if that means anything

anyone? plz!

are you sure you have no other ec's?? did your old school offer a lot of opportunities for volunteer work, etc...because as it is I think WM is a slight reach

just observing kids who got in to will and mary from my school (i live in VA) a lot of the kids who got in had a nice list of ECs... one girl that got accepted played three varsity sports another kid had just one varsity sport, a couple of clubs, and had held down a job for a really long time... they also had really nice grades, like yours...

you should apply but also try to get some ECs in as well... you might get in and that's all anyone can say.

I'd try to raise your sat up to around 2200 because I can tell you that plays a heavy role in admissions. I know people who had a decent gpa but awesome sat's that got it. Also, take advantage of your essays because they will help set you apart from other people with similar grades, sat's etc...if you have any other questions about w&m feel free to ask as I am currently a student there.

I did have a job in Mickey D's for 2 yrs., but my community service is kind of low. My old school didn't offer much opportunities so the only thing I've really done is shop for the elderly around my area.(For people who cant go out of their homes) I also did do something interesting in which me and my friends picked weeds for ten hours to save an endangered plant in a forest. I've also been in Chess and drama club. Drama club was something I did for the hell of it though(my friends forced me to try it and I hated it). Well that's about it. In chess club I wasn't really a leader of anything. I was the second best player, but that doesn't matter. I didn't list these at first since I was in a rush, but I didn't think it was that important. I'd appreciate some more feedback and thx guys!

Oh i have one more question. Should I take some SATII's or try to improve my SAT I's. The W&M application said the SATII's were optional, but I'm not sure if that means reccomended. A lot of people tell me to to these things, but I'm not sure if my SAT I's are good enough.

I attended an info session at William and Mary recently with my daughter. The admissions rep specifically said that they don't look at SATIIs.
