Chances - Berkeley and UCLA

Hey everyone, I guess this is yet another chances thread, but I'd appreciate the input. My main objective is to see whether I should apply to any other schools at the same level as berkeley and ucla, like out-of-state or something

Anyway, here are my grades

Summer 2005(3 classes: A, B, C)
Spring 2006 (3 classes: A, A, F (thought i'd withdrawn but wasn't--noting that on my app)
Summer 2006 (3 classes: A, B, C)
Fall 2006 ( 8 classes: A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A)
Winter 2007 ( 4 classes: A-, A, A, A) Plus, two 1-unit courses (A+, A+)
Spring 2007 ( 5 classes: A+, A, A, A, B)
My Fall 2007 grades should like look this:
(A+(grade i got the F in before), A, A, A, A, A-, P)

Cumulative GPA: without Fall = 3.53. With Fall 3.63
Since the Fall of 2006: 3.9
I graduate High School in 2006 so a couple of my bad grades were while i was in high school)

Extracurriculars: Debate Team captain and president.
Worked for a political campaign for about a year.
Really strong essays.

IGETC: will be completed by spring prior to transfer
Lower-Div: for both majors will also be completed prior to transfer

I'd like to know my chances for the following schools:

Berkeley (with the Society and Environment major)
UCLA: (philosophy major)

Now, I've done a little research and it seems that Berkeley accepted 70% of its Society and Environment majors last year. And, UCLA accepted 68% of their philosophy majors last year with an average admit GPA of 3.49.

Do you think I can get in? Or, should I consider applying to some other out-of-state / private schools. And, yes, I am applying to some other UC's as "safeties".

Thanks a lot for your input. I appreciate it.

I think you'll get in, your poor grades were a long time ago, and they look at grade trends. Your recent grades are excellent.

thanks, anyone else have input? I really am trying to see if I need to apply to other schools. Like if i can get into either UCLA or Berk, I won't apply to other non-UC schools. But If you think I won't get in, then I will apply to some other non-UC schools.
