Chances: College of Chemistry and L&S

will someone please give me an informed opinion

instate...
NO class rank...estimate top Decile, but not 4% ELC, sadly
UC GPA: 4.20-4.25 (haven't calculated since last semester)
UW: 3.91
SAT: 800 M 640 V 680 W (one sitting) 720 W (for highest composite) (retake Oct.)
SAT II: 800 math level 2; 790 Bio M; 700 History (chem and retake of history soon...)
ACT: 33 = 36 Math 34 English 30 Science 30 Reading (retake sept.)
AP's: chem 3 (damn..); us hist. 4; eng. lang. 4; calculus bc 5/5.

from my school, 40-50% got accepted last year (i'm assuming this is good)

EC's:

Music: piano (certificate of merit (state, not that special), branch honors twice (county)..nothing much beyond that)
school percussion ensemble (1st place heritage festival...judges' award, CMEA "superior with encore request" two years)
cross country (9-12, no awards => dedication??)
swimming ( 9,10, 12, no awards)
red cross club (10, 12, no position)
community service (9-12...approx 200 hours, only half of those will be documented by the school by graduation(not on transcript though). can i still lay claim to it?)

Taking an economics class that is UC/CSU transferrable 3.00 units

Awards:
school does not give awards (the ones worth mentioning are only handed out at graduation)
random music stuff (cited above)
sophomore academic commendation (school)
AP Scholar with honors
(can't think of anymore)

no leadership...will end me.

EDIT: my "safety" is UCSD...if anyone could input for that as well, that would be excellent!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Test scores look really good! Might wanna work on the ECs. Other than that, you look pretty good in my opinion.

what school do you go to? 40-50% got accepted, wow. most schools it's only like 5-10 people, if that. 30 people if it's a top public school.

I think that whether you apply to the college of chem or L&S could impact your admissions. Does anyone know if an intended chem major who doesn't get into the college of chemistry can be admitted to the L&S without applying?

UCSD shouldn't be a problem.

DRab: that's what i'm concerned of too. if anyone knows exactly how it works, please do tell.

i'm thinking about either

MCB (= L&S) to med school

-or-

Chemistry (College of Chem) with the necessary pre-requisites for med.

i'm not sure as to what path would give me more career options if i don't get into med or decide not to pursue it in the future?

Well, why would you consider doing chemistry within the college of chem, but not within L&S?

Berkeley is probably the best place to find out about the admissiosn situation in question.

chemistry will give you more options. i think the physical sciences are more practical in the business world than life sciences.
