Come to UNC. Our chemistry program is ranked better than dook’s. Plus you’ll have a lot more fun in Chapel Hill. There is nothing to do in Durham.

Thanks! I’ve heard that too, but do you think I have a chance of getting into chapel hill?

Yes I think you do!.. Although there is no chemical engineering.

@ncgirl44 yes a very good chance

Ask yourself this: what about you is special and unique? Think about it this way, college is a game in which we are all trying to sell the buyer (the admissions officers) a product (ourselves). We have to convince them that our product is the best there is, and there isn’t anything out there like it. Yes, every product has it’s flaws, but it’s strengths must outweigh it. Now, imagine that there are 10,000 products to pick, and a budget of 1,000. How are you going to beat out ten other people?

You sound like you don’t quite have a solid grasp on who you are as a person. You should not mention quitting lacrosse, especially since your reason was to work more to buy a car. If you quit to support your family, then it would make a great story, but otherwise, it sounds like you are more dedicated to getting material possessions than being part of a team and following a passion through.

I think you need to try to figure out who you are. What do you want to get out of high school, out of college, out of life? It’s time you take a deeper look into who you are, and then learn to market that.

***If any of this sounded harsh, I didn’t mean it that way. You just remind me of a very good friend who is in the same position as you. (She quit the volleyball team for a part time job at starbucks)

Thank you sm!! Super helpful thanks for being honest
