@therealdeal23 This is the ND thread, not Case Western. But here are the admission stats for ND – you can see where you stand. http://admissions.nd.edu/apply/admission-statistics/

@happy1 Sorry about that. Thanks for the input.

Well you have the same 2 part SAT score that I did, and I was taken off of waitlist this year. I’m not sure how ND will look at the new SAT though. You have some pretty good EC’s and Awards, and your strength of schedule/rank are also great. I would think you should be fine, but it wouldn’t hurt to try to raise your SAT/ACT score just to give you an even better shot.

(One thing to note is that the link happy sent refers to stats from the year before mine. My class’s stats haven’t been officially updated yet.)

Regarding EA, I’ve heard they are really looking for the very high test scores. You should contact your advisor and see what they recommend for you. It’s also nice just to put your name in their head so they know you are really interested. I think that’s what helped me.

Best of luck!

I think IvyHopeful makes some fair points, your GPA/EC’s look great, and if you’re looking for something to do this summer, either pick up a Barrons or Princeton Review book and study a bit to give your test scores a little more. I’d recommend checking your local library first, my local one had up-to-date books I could rent out, I just couldn’t write in them.

Now I’m not necessarily saying you have to do this, you’re in pretty good shape already. But getting scores up can’t hurt you, and if you have the time this summer it isn’t a bad idea.

Just as an update, the stats have been updated. Looks like the 75% mark stayed the same, but 25% dropped.

@IvyHopeful98 it actually looks like the middle 50% for the ACT shifted up from 32-34 to 33-35. The SAT 25th percentile rose 40 points while the 75th remained the same. (This is Fall 2015 enrolled vs. Fall 2016 admitted. When the class shakes out this could change slightly.)

@ejcclc Sorry, I definitely should have specified I was referring to the SAT scores. Was the 25% score lower than 1390? I could’ve sworn it was in the 1400’s. Sorry for spreading false information.

@IvyHopeful98 The CR+M 25th went from 1350 to 1390. But I believe that is for admitted students. When they publish the CDS for this cycle, all those numbers will reflect scores of students who actually matriculate.

@IvyHopeful98 @happy1 There is a concordance on the admissions stats page but it doesn’t match up with the current SAT range. The 75th percentile is 1530 on the old, but it says 1540 on the new which is a bit lower when converted right? Especially since there is a 50 point difference between the 25th percentile for the old and new SAT compared to only 10 point difference between the 75th percentile for the old and new SAT.

You seem to have all the needed criteria; it’ll likely come down to fit. Notre Dame strongly considers fit with the university mission in its holistic admissions. (What will you bring to the university? Are you of service to the community and those in need? Do you demonstrate leadership? Are you creative and inquisitive? etc)

Hey guys I bumped up my ACT to a 34 composite ( E: 35 M: 34 R: 34 S: 31) and a 35 superscore (E: 35 M: 34 R: 34 S: 35). How do my chances for ND look now after taking these into account?

@therealdeal23 Your increased test scores will definitely help but it’s definitely not a slam dunk. Based upon this past years stats, people that scored between 33-36 had a 50% admit rate. You are extremely close to being in the top 1% at your school which will also help. It will probably come down to how good your essays are.

Also, I can’t stress how much I agree with post #10 by @3rdXsTheCharm . If ND wanted to, they could fill their entire class with people who were in the top 1% in their school or were in the top 1% on test scores. They are looking for people who fit the University. They want people who have a sincere desire to serve others and make others around them better. Ultimately they want to believe that by admitting you, you will help make ND a better place.
