Chances Early Decision at BU (normal or CGS), Northeastern

Thanks for checking me out! My GPA is on the lower side, but is weighed down by an outlier rather than my average being low. I had a B+ or higher in every class Junior year, except for French which was a C+. I’m still a bit salty about my guidance counselor making me take a class that I clearly struggle with instead of APUSH but that’s in the past.

Grades:

GPA: 3.2
Junior GPA: 3.4
Senior GPA (so far): 3.5
Senior W GPA (so far): 4.2
SAT CR+M: 1420
SAT: 2090
ACT: 30

I had taken no honors or AP classes until this year, and I am taking 4 this year. Don’t worry I’m handling it fine, I only stayed in normal level classes at the request of my counselor and my parents.

Extracurricular Activities:

Eagle Scout
Tennis and XC
Frisbee, Chess, and Smash club. (Not sure if I’ll include smash)
Job over the summer

Other:

2 grandparents went to BU
My dad teaches at Northeastern - I’m not sure if this is going to be extremely helpful or just a little bit. All I know is that I got extremely lucky with this. He applied for a job as a professor this spring after touring the school with me, since he had recently left his old job.

Thanks for chancing me!

I think you can get into both, definitely BU. Northeastern is a maybe, but your dad teaches, so that is a huge boost.

If your dad is an adjunct instructor, it will not help. If he is tenure track, it will help.

@TomSrOfBoston so if he’s not tenure track the benefit is closer to having alumni in your family?
