Chances? Emory, Davidson, others

I have had an unusual high school experience, so I'm wondering if my college choices are acceptable. I'm a rising senior, and so far, I have been home-schooled, taken classes at a local private school (a small, very new high school), taken classes online on Florida Virtual School, and attended the local Community College. This means that I do not have a lot of information, such as class rank.

Sex: Male
Ethnicity: Hispanic
State: Florida
Financial Aid: yes

-My schools:
Davidson
Emory
Wake Forest
University of Florida
Florida State University
Rollins College

I'm also strongly considering Vanderbilt and possibly Rhodes and Sewanee. Also, my grandfather attended Washington University. Would that help my chances there?

-Unweighted GPA: 4.0

-AP/honors courses: 6 APs
By the end of my senior year, I will have AP Biology, AP Spanish, AP English Literature, AP Government, AP Economics, and AP Calculus AB. These classes are/were the only APs available to me, and all of my other classes have been honors.

-SAT score- 1380/2070 (700 CR, 680 Math, 690 Writing)

-SAT II scores- have not taken yet

-ECs- I don't have a wide range of ECs. The school I have attended is new and doesn't have many organizations/clubs. I have gotten very involved with my current ECs, however.

Piano (12-13 years) with a few competitions and awards, but no huge awards.
Eagle Scout- I started up my own troop, so I have always been a leader in it.
Musical Theater (6 years)
Choir (2 years)
Dance (6 years)
Backpacking (2/3 years)

-employment-
I was hired for an IT job last year, but a wrist injury forced me out of the job.
Over the summer, I spent about 10 hours a week babysitting.
This year, I hope to volunteer at the local hospital, but this isn't a definite thing yet.

You seem like an interesting person based on your ECs. That means you should have something interesting to talk about in your essays. If you write them well you will be fine. Boosting your scores may help, but you are in a good place right now.
Chance me?

If you could get your CR + M to about 1430 or so that would realllly help. Great GPA btw. Good chance at all but Emory and WFU might be reaches right now.

Your sat score is a bit confusing, but otherwise, I think your grades/EC’s are amazing. Most kids just join a club of some kind and call it a day. Your ability to play the piano may get you scholarships… and acceptance to the schools you want to go to. I think you should think about Brown. A few of my friends go there and got into the music program. You can incorporate your job offer/wrist injury into the essays too!

Overall, you’re in great shape for the tier 1 schools.
Being hispanic just adds to your chances.

Good luck! : )

-My schools:
Davidson- match
Emory- high match
Wake Forest- match
University of Florida- safety
Florida State University- safety
Rollins College- safety

Incredible EC’s and GPA-- in everywhere incl Vandy, except maybe Wash U which is a borderline high match low reach due to your SAT scores. I am not betting against you, even at Wash U.

I forgot to include my 26 credit hours from the local community college. Also, I forgot that I took AP US History, which puts my total AP courses up to 7.

Your stats are solid. Being Hispanic is probably a plus too. You should take SATIIs, but then again I’m not sure what schools want them.

Great GPA and interesting, deep, and meaningful ECs. Clubs are…well lets put it this way. They are a great way to stand out if their competitive, but most people just join them thinking thats enough and that theyll have a better chance at getting in to what ever U they want to go to.

So in the end, not having any clubs isnt so bad.

Increase ur SAT score and you have a solid shot at a lot of those schools.

Most likely acceptance at Wake Forest, University of Florida, Florida State University, Rollins College, and Davidson considering your perfect GPA, rigorous course load, and advantaging demographics.

I believe that you are in at every college in your list. Include some ivies as well, because I think you could also get into those.

-My schools:
Davidson —low match
Emory ----match
Wake Forest —match
University of Florida —safety
Florida State University–safety
Rollins College—safety

I’m not familiar with most of the colleges on your list, but out of the ones that I am more familiar with, I would say that being a URM and considering your level of dedication to your EC’s and your excellent grades and courseload, you do have a good chance at Emory, Vanderbilt, and Wash U. Just keep your SAT II’s above 700. A slightly higher SAT score would also help, but not absolutely necessary in your case. Btw, thanks for chancing me. =)

I say you have a very good chance in getting into all of them.
I don’t know why you would be so worried! haha
Good luck and thanks for chancing me :)

Awesome EC’s and GPA - I don’t think your scores are bad - if you get 700+ on SATII’s you’ll have a decent chance at Emory. also…URM can’t hurt
