High School Junior
Estimated 3.3 unweighted GPA
25% class rank
1330/1920 SAT
I had a bad freshman year, but I've gotten better.
I took An "Accelerated" class freshman year, took honors chemistry last year, and I'm taking AP Biology this year.
Worked as an umpire freshman year.
Volunteered to help coach my little sister's softball team the summer after freshman year, and I logged 24 hours.
Taken private drum lessons and had a band for almost two years now.
Started the political science club at my school this year.
Played intramural basketball every year.
Worked from May 2008-October 2008 at a grocery store (15-20+ hours per week).
Connecticut resident.

Your numbers aren’t that good, but then again, it is only FSU.

I would say you have high chances of being accepted.

OOS does hurt you though…

GPA hurts, plus OOS. Good luck

Dabigdawg72,

Weren’t you just ranting about how UF supporters do not post in the FSU forum? You are a moron, and while your stats will most likely get you into UF, your arrogance will get you no where.

Good luck to you. I sincerely hope you grow up sometime within the next 5 years; for your sake of course.

Anyways, to the OP, I think you’ll get in. 1330 is a very strong SAT, and a 3.3 unweighted is strong as well. (My numbers were similar, and I got in). What is your weighted GPA though?

i don’t think my weighted is much higher since i’ve only taken AP Biology and Honors Chemistry, so probably like a 3.4/3.5. I am taking AP Economics and AP Statistics senior year though.

Apply early; I still think you’ll get in because of your strong SAT score, but your GPA and being OOS hurts your application a bit. Your senior classes look good on your app, but won’t help towards weighting your GPA. Try and do as well as you can this semester.

Good luck!

SAT score not bad!
you’re OOS which is not good
GPA could use a boost since you’re OOS.

I’d say you will probably get in for summer session. My SAT was lower than yours, and I was accepted for summer.

I think you will get in as well. You should be proud of your SAT scores. GPA is also a relative factor depending upon the type of high school you attend.

While a solid GPA is important to gain admission, I believe you will have little issue. In fact your GPA may qualify you for some merit scholarship. Just make sure you apply before the first deadline which is usually in early October. If you apply for summer session, this will help your chances as well.

I also disagree with above in that oos I believe will help given the economic climate.

Good luck to you.

good point there ny.
did your son get into FSU?

do you think i would have a chance at the out of state tuition reduction scholarship it all? if so, how much money?

I had a 25 on ACT, 3.4 GPA, and top 25% of my class, and I got in. Then again, I did a lot of extracurricular stuff, and took 3 AP classes and lots of Honors courses. Your SAT score is really good too. Try to take as many AP courses as you possibly can to make your strength of coursework look impressive enough, and do more extracurricular stuff like clubs or join some community service thing. It will help you out a good bit.

Oh and I’m an out of state resident too (I’m living in South Carolina atm, but will be moving to Tally for school), and I got the tuition reduction scholarship which knocks off $6000 from my tuition for my first year.

And don’t ever lie about your extracurricular activities, my friend did that to get into Central Florida and he got the shaft when UCF found out he lied.

Never, ever, lie.

thanks forthe info

i’m going to be taking AP Economics and AP Statistics next year.
