Thanks in advance for the chancing!

I have no expertise nor connection to W&M Admissions at all.

I say – yes. You seem well rounded (finance, life guarding); your SAT scores are awesome. (I wonder why your grades aren’t higher with those scores.)

What classes did you take? You know, W&M has the admissions baseball.

But I say yes (even though your delegate isn’t stepping in or congressman or whomever). You look like an involved person. And you’re a boy – it is easier for boys to be admitted.

Good luck!

Maybe someone else will chime in, someone with more familiarity.

Yes. You definitely have a very good chance. Your recs, SATs, ECs and course load all look great. Do know, however, that W&M chances you in terms of competitiveness with YOUR SCHOOL. So it really depends on how competitive the applicants from your school are. So judging by my school, I’d think you would get in. However, you say your school is top 20 and really high ranked? Well, that means you are going to have to be more competitive. But honestly, don’t stress. I will be very surprised if you DONT get in  Good luck!!

FWIW, my son applied in-state a couple year ago with similar stats (2290/3.5uw), was wait listed, and withdrew from consideration after committing another school.

You certainly appear to have many competitive qualities. Keep in mind that W&M considers you within context of where you attend high school. If you go to a really competitive high school W&M takes that into account (i.e. they know there are schools were As are rarely handed out or where one B can knock you out of the top decile) and makes sure that it doesn’t hold students who attend one high school to the same standards as those who have a totally different academic environment so W&M do not necessarily expect those who attend competitive high schools to be even more competitive but it might expect those who have lots of opportunities to have taken advantage of them in ways other students who go to less competitive schools might not.

Remember, out-of-state students face stiffer competition but you sound like someone who should apply and who is certainly competitive. Competitiveness does not apply an admit but it implies that you are a student who has qualities that fit W&M’s profile
