i know i dont have too good of chances because of my mediocre gpa and act but my counselor is addressing a few things in my recommendation.

How much would applying ED help? I dont think i will as I can’t seem to make my mind up, but i am just curious. So I guess I want regular and ED chances! Thanks =)

forgot…rank is like 15/275

If you’re just looking for an Ivy League education, apply to Dartmouth. They LOOOOVE Native Americans!

But if you’re set on Brown specifically then it’s anyone’s guess. Your ethnicity definitely gives you an edge though, no matter what school you apply to.

Yeah i have been thinking a lot about Dartmouth but I’m still not convinced its for me (not trying to sound arrogant) because of location, weather, etc…

Brown just seems extremely interesting to me because of the curriculum, student body, and other things.

I would say in. Your grades and ranks, especially at a competitive magnet school, are good enough, and you have not only a fair range of EC activities, but a clear passion. I would say that you would still stand a fighting chance with just that, but your geographic diversity and URM hooks have you as a shoe-in. :)

p.s. I don’t it’s cocky at all to say that a school isn’t right for you. If it’s not right, it’s not right!

Thank you! =) I really appreciate it. That made my day hahaha

bump anybody?? I really want to apply…thanks!

Well your stats alone are above average nationally but low for an ivy. I am curious as to whether or not there really is an advantage given to minorites like yourself (and me) but your profile is pretty good even without that. The problem is that Brown is such a competitive place that there are many people with better stats than yours, not that yours are bad. However, your ECs are pretty good and show devotion.

Your URM status gets you up to a 30-40% chance of admission to any Ivy provided you have good essays and recommendations.

thanks. okay so dartmouth is now 100% out of my picture, so if i visit and like brown and ED would that help my chances?

wow im sooo nervous about this whole thing. i just hope i get in. i dont know exactly know what im going to do otherwise…i dont want to settle…

What makes Brown your top choice?
If you can’t answer this question effectively, then I’m sure that you can find plenty of other schools.

Honestly, your stats are fine, and there’s nothing that you can do to change them. Instead of asking to be chanced, I think that you sure work on other things, such as developing a list of colleges or thinking of essay ideas.

If you can coherently pour your heart out on the essays, I’m sure that Brown will have a hard time tossing your application aside =)

thanks so much akrana…
well it becomes more apparent to me everyday that brown is where i want to spend the next 4 years…and I def. do need to stop procrastinating and get on those essays.

Any more chances/recommendations?

completely reviving this thread…but a few new stats and now i know for a fact i am not EDing.

new rank- 13/257
named AP Scholar
AM taking Macroeconomics/Fast pace humanities course this semester at CC along with 3 aps at school.

updated chances? How are things looking? Thanks again everyone.

anyone? Im pretty desperate!

Honestly, nate, I think people here have already nailed your chances. None of us know – we’re not on the admissions committee and none of us own crystal balls. As has been said to you already – you are a strong candidate, with good grades, rank, and scores. Your Native American background will give you a strong boost.

You will be going to a great college next year. Just make sure your list is well-balanced, with some safeties you love.

i know fireandrain… i appreciate it though.

I just want to go to a great school that i’d be happy at and I know Brown is one of them. I just dont know about the low test scores i have…

Too nervous.

Anyone have any more feedback or any good info on studying history at Brown? Anything I couldn’t gain from the website?

I just feel so out of line applying, seeing all of these amazing test scores! I feel like I have no chance whatsoever.
