Chances for a Paranoid Applicant/Will Chance Back

Thanks for reading my thread,

I was feeling fairly confident about college admissions but it turns out I'm close to failing yet another class. I'm very bad at Math (it shows in my grades) and I might fail PreCalculus (high chance but I'm trying). I switched to the Pass/Fail system for my class because even if I pull out a pass I'll have a D in the class. Anyway, I have a copy of my official transcript and here's my stats.

I had a really tough time during my Junior Year in my family due to domestic and financial reasons which I outline in an explanation. My essay is about overcoming adversity in America being a Muslim after 9/11.

College Choices:
American University
Fordham University
George Washington University
New York University
Syracuse University
Union College
University of Pittsburgh
University of Rochester (Dream School)

Majoring in : Pre-Law

You’ll have a tougher time getting into most of these schools with your GPA at a 3.1 and SAT at 1700. I would just submit the ACT score, which is up to par with most of those schools. Although, assuming you’re a URM if you’re Muslim (forgive me if I’m wrong), your status will help, and if you wrote your essay well, it will also look over the GPA. Your ECs are lacking a bit too, though!

I’d say URochester and NYU are very much reaches. Your best shot is Syracuse, Fordham, and possibly GWU or American U.

CollegeBoard will help a lot, if you use their college search. (:

You are very likely to match 4ish of the collleges you listed.

American University - match
Fordham University - match
George Washington University - reach
New York University - match
Syracuse University - match
Union College - reach
University of Pittsburgh - match
University of Rochester - reach

Thanks for the feedback. My GPA dropped because of my Junior Year which I enclosed an explanation for in my college application. If I can get into any of the above colleges (besides Pitt) I’ll be pretty happy.

It’s weird, I thought my EC’s were fairly adequate to get into those colleges, I didn’t imagine that people would have much more and be applying to similar colleges.
