My strength is writing, so I think I'll be able to pull out good essays. Good recs too I think. I don't know what to think about my chances in terms of GPA, because I have strong classes and a great upward trend, its just the first half of high school that messed me up. I don't have any extenuating circumstances either. I'm really, really interested in politics so I guess that's my hook. Well and also I'll basically be a professional Page by the time I graduate.

Look about right?

SOMETHING needs to explain the GPA. Otherwise, it just looks too fishy. It doesn't match anything else about you and the fact that the classes are honors doesn't fix a thing.

I had a similar experience in that my freshman year GPA was EXTREMELEY out of line with the rest of my profile, but I had a decent (not great) explanation (illness, extended absence). It turned out to be very difficult to predict my chances b/c it ended up depending on who cared about my freshman year. You may find yourself in a similar boat. It's really impossible for anybody to give you valuable predictions b/c we simply can't know who will give your abilities the benefit of the doubt and who will remain skeptical.

My suggestion to you would be to balance out your so-called matches and safeties. You have more reaches right now than anything else, which is never a good thing, especially with an applicant as unpredictable as you may be.

Good luck!

conn college, wellesley, and Claremont McKenna will be tough with that gpa
