Vocal Music -
Choir I've been in multiple choirs all four years. I sing in church, afterschool choir, school liturgical choir, regional Honor Choir. . . I've been a soloist and a psalmist. I'm an alto. I also sing in German and Spanish.
Recording and Performing Artist I perform regionally, earning money to pay for recording equipment etc. It's acoustic rock music, mostly, with some jazz thrown in. I also compete regionally, at county fairs, local 'idol style' competitions. - I sing lead for a rock band, also. We perform at local clubs, coffee shops, charity benefits, etc.
Theater -
Actress I've been acting since freshman year, when I landed my first lead. Our school's drama program is intense. I can compare because I've transferred to other schools, too. I got into acting because of musical theater, but turns out I can do both!
Technical You're not a well rounded actor unless you've worked on both sides of the production :)
Dance
* Swing * I dance Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing once a week. It was just a fun hobby until I started a school club. Now I teach other kids, and we perform at school carnivals.
Salsa Also a weekly hobby, I take lessons on Sundays and dance at a local club. It's one of my favorite social activities. You'd never know a white girl like me had this much rhythm.
Model UN This year I'm a senior delegate. I joined because my school has no formal debate team. My love for acting helps me a LOT here.

Leadership:

President / Founder / Dance Coach of Swing Dance Club
President / Founder of Performing Arts Club
Secretary of Science Club
Vice President of Music Outreach Club

Volunteering:
My school requires hours for graduation -
Mexican Girls' Orphanage - traveling across the border to teach English and other skills (computer) on the weekend. During the week they have traditional school.
Center for Domestic Abuse - helping battered women and elders escape, providing shelter and other resources
Retirement Home - music outreach, performing with other musicians and singers for the elderly

Work Experience -
1 Summer Job - working at the county fair. I swept, mopped, did arts & crafts, hosted karaoke... One of those menial minimum wage jobs that you tell your kids about.
1 retail job - Stationary store - Cashier, helped design wedding invitations

I intend to major in Philosophy

Colleges of Interest:

Boston College
Brown U
Columbia U
Cornell U
George Washington U
Georgetown U
Harvard U
NYU
Princeton U
U of Chicago
USC
Williams College
Yale U

Boston College safe
Brown U match
Columbia U reach
Cornell U match
George Washington U safe
Georgetown U match
Harvard U reach (only cos its harvard)
NYU safe
Princeton U reach (same as harvard)
U of Chicago low match
USC safe
Williams College high match
Yale U reach (safe as princeton)

good luck, your goin somewhere good next year.

Don't think you can say that Brown is a match. You have a chance at all the schools, but you cannot really predict HYPB, you have the stats to get in, so essays and recs will be important.

As far as essays go, I know they were well written. Writing is one of my strong points - BUT we'll just see how they feel about the subject matter.

Ungst is mistaken; Brown is a match. Its HYPS that are not (the S is for Stanford). I say that even though I was accepted at Brown years ago and didn't bother applying at any of the others.

brown dartmouth and to a lesser extent cornell are the only ivies that arent reaches for any1

Out of the Ivies I'm leaning towards Yale. I think that I'm closer to that student type. Brown also appeals to my free-thinking side.

I would love NYU but it may be too big. I'll see when I visit.
