chances for a top ivy league

ok, so i just finished freshman year and i was curious about what i should work on in sophmore year to increase my chances of being admitted at a top ivy league like harvard or yale

final ninth grade average: 95.5 (i know its a little low but i go to one of nyc's top specialized high schools so this is actually pretty high there)

awards for this year: Model United Nations honorable mention, semi finalist in the irish heritage oratory contest, 1st place winner in biology science fair, winner of the excellence award in mathematics

extracurriculars: model united nations, mural painting club, oratory contests, theatre outside of school, student mentor, volunteer during lunch everyday in the school copy office, tutors kids on saturdays for a the specialized high school test, im helping to found a school, ive written 2 books that i plan to get published this summer, started an advice website for students applying to specialized high schools

summer plans: research on biodegradable enzymes at a university (i plan to enter intel) and golf camp (im going to be on the team in the fall)

curriculum for next year: im taking the most rigorous classes available. all honors and AP world history

im african american/european/native american and female

so what do you guys think so far?

You are doing EXTREMELY well :). Unless, is your hs super competitive? aim for top 10%

o_O WOW, I would just say to keep up the great work and remember to mark your ethnicity when it comes time to apply ;)

You’re a freshman!

But I recommend keeping your grades up first and foremost, then focusing rigorously on Intel, your writing, and your website. Your other ECs are inconsequential, and cutting them from your schedule will leave you more time to make significant accomplishments in your areas of interest.

And consider yourself lucky–if you keep your grades up and do well on the SAT, your race gives you a considerable boost for top schools (not that you need it!).
