Chances for a transfer student and legacy

Hey there!!
I am currently a freshmen at St. John's college. St. John's is a great books program and is very unique. Unfortunately its just not working out for me. I think Wellesley would be a really amazing opportunity for me and somewhere I would love to be. Also my mother graduated from Wellesley so I am a legacy there. I am also looking to major in History and Government. My future career goal is to be a lawyer or political speechwriter.

And here are my stats
High School GPA: 3.8 9 (u/w) 4.7 (w)

HS class rank: 24/330

SAT: reading 710 math 510 writing 620

SJC didn't need SAT scores but for some reason I took the SAT even though I was already enrolled. I had one days notice and didn't study at all. I will retake these. My PSAT was 202 if that helps determine what I'm capable of.

APs: 6 AP classes scoring three 4's and three 5's

HS Extra-Curricular: very involved with Speech and Debate, captain of the LD Debate, Expos Speaking, Original Orotory and Poetry and Prose divisions. varsity letter. Qualified for the national tournament in LD and OO. 3rd place at state in Expos as well as many other wins on league level. Received degree of superior distinction from the National Forensics League

College GPA: unknown, I'm guessing anywhere from 3.3-3.9 (most likely above 3.5)

College Extracurriculars:
-International Relations Study Group
-Tech and costumes for school musical

College Classes: I don't take normal classes but they will transfer as Ancient Greek grammar and prose, Euclidean Geometry, Astronomy, General Biology, Chemistry Foundations of Atomic Theory, History, Classical Literature and Philosophy.

The reason I don't know by GPA is because they wont disclose grades until the end of the semester and even then grade are completely subjective and entirely up to the discretion of the teacher since there is no objective work like papers and tests to grade us off of.

Does being a legacy give you a major boost? If you all could give me some guidance as to what my chances are for Wellesley and how to make myself a more competitive transfer candidate that would be amazing!!!
Thank you soo much!!

It sounds like you’re on the right track so far. Maybe you could look into doing some volunteer work or something over winter break? (Or, even better, while you’re at school, if you have the time.)

Make sure you have a couple professors you can use for recommendations. Also, the essay will be important. That’s all I can think of for now.
