Intended Major: I'm really undecided, but I'm considering psychology, maybe biochemistry? Then possibly getting an MBA after undergrad.

I know my GPA is what's really hindering me in this process, but I've dealing with issues of depression and motivation for a while. Mentioning those two wont help me in the app process though, so I've decided to get rid of a ton of reach schools that I dreamed of before and look for more matches and safeties. Suggestions are welcome (I like schools that aren't too small [>3000], have a somewhat intellectual student body, are diverse, not in the middle of nowhere [proximity to a major city or huge town at least], and good academics)

Thanks!

Bump please???

I think you’re pretty spot on with matches and reaches, I’d probably put Penn State as a match though, not a safety. Definitely apply to more safety schools and maybe get rid of so many reaches. Personally, I’d only apply to 2-3 reach school, 3-4 matches, and like 3 safeties.

It’ll help that you’re African American and first generation, and if you improved your SAT score to a 2000+ you should be fine with the list you have. Just add another safety or two just to be sure.

I am in penn states honors college and know people with 3.7s that got rejected from main campus. Definitely not a safety other than that you are good. Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice guys!
I’m reluctant to take schools off my list though…any suggestions?

Well I wouldn’t apply to Virginia Tech unless I was going into engineering or something related.

@hopeful360

Are their non engineering programs not as good?

They are good, just not as known. I mean it’s a tech school—it’s known for engineering. I’m just giving you suggestions for schools to maybe drop. You can still apply though.

Oh okay got it

Anyone else?
