Chances

I know I don't have great scores, but do I have any chance of getting in? I am a white male from MD if that makes any difference. I am going to take the SATs several more times, hoping to get them up 100-200+ or so.Thanks.

Colgate
UMD - College Park
American
Georgetown
UPenn - Wharton
George Washington

Major: Economics (At some colleges I may double major or go into a related major)

Academics:

GPA - Unweighted: 4.00
Rank: Homeschooled

SAT: 1320/2010
SATII: Math1:640 USHistory:640 Chemistry:740

APs:

U.S. Government and Politics - 3 (I took this class in 8th grade and am not sure if I should include it because it is just a 3)
U.S. History - 4 (9th grade)
Chemistry - 5 (10th grade)
Human Geography - 5 (10th grade)
Psychology - 5 (10th grade)

This year I am taking AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, and AP English Language.

ECs:

Very involved in 4-H (i.e. I've been president of a club for 3 years, I lead a leadership team for my county, I am on a state council, financial investment council, camp leader, national trip, etc.)

Honors and Awards:

AP Scholar with Distinction (Only 30+ students in Maryland received this as Sophomores)

Colgate: Match (I think, I don’t know much about this school)
UMD - College Park: Match
American: Match/Safety
Georgetown: Reach
UPenn - Wharton: Super reach (Wharton is the most difficult to get into)
George Washington: Match

Also, you mentioned that you plan to take your SAT ‘several’ times. I totally think you should take tons of practice tests but college counselors at my school and at many other schools in my state recommend that students don’t take the official SAT more than 3 times.

Also, I think you should apply early to Gtown if that is where you want to be. They do not have ED, but I think they have SCEA. It will improve your chances. If you choose to apply to Wharton I highly doubt you will be accepted, there are too many applicants that have as good if not better resumes. However, I do think you have a chance applying ED to the arts and sciences programs at Penn. It’s still a major reach, as it is for everyone.

Best of luck
