I know I have a good chance of getting in but I want to know what everyone thinks about getting into the Honors college and then my chances of getting automatically accepted into the masters program for Engineering.
All comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Your SAT and GPA should make you UHC automatically eligible your freshman year. I got automatic masters when I got in (for Engineering) but I will say this: The advisors at SSOE have no idea that this exists. I had a lot of friends tell them “Well I can just come here next year for a Master’s right?” and the advisor was like “Huh, what?”

Seriously, I don’t know what the deal is between SSOE and Admissions, but the people over at SSOE have NOOOOOOO idea that this really exists. I would say that if you’re automatically UHC eligible, should you wish to continue with your Master’s at Pitt, you would have no issue getting in as a graduate student, regardless of if you have the guaranteed or not. (In fact, I believe my guaranteed friends may have had to go through the formality of applying anyway, but I can’t recall).

AwesomeOp, that is very interesting. My D just received notice of guaranteed acceptance to a Master’s in engineering today. Our other D, a junior in the Honors College, had never heard of it, and started asking around. None of her engineering friends had heard of it. So we concluded that it was something new. Apparently not, though, because I believe you are at least a junior as well.

We’re more interested in scholarship money, anyway, so it’s no big deal.

Awesome graduated this year. My daughter, a senior at Pitt, was accepted with a guarantee to grad school ( though not engineering).

Guaranteed Grad is not new, I graduated in April (entered Pitt in Fall of 2008) and it was a thing back then, probably earlier than that too.
