Also, if you are seriously interested in Cambridge/Oxford, start now. You must pick one only. You must also select a residential college. The process is very different and the deadlines are MUCH earlier.
Nobody can really give you a very good idea about your chances. You are certainly a reasonable candidate but that could mean you get into a pile of elites or none. Have a safety - a school that you can afford and are sure to get into and will be willing to attend.
The elite schools are not all the same. A student who fits one may not fit others. Start finding out where you fit now.

@nemon,
thanks, I was considering Cambridge and Oxford, but I will probably not carry it out. I am really considering Yale as my primary Ivy, but as a prominent back-up I was thinking Vassar or Columbia. Vassar fits me well because of its small size and people, but Columbia is a great school with great academics and location, while Yale is my dream school. Thanks

Btw. I am completely honest with this thread, please don’t accuse me of lying when you don’t know me. OK! I don’t mean to be vain or even incompetent but I have worked my butt off for years, so don’t insinuate that I am a lier because you don’t know what I’ve been through or maybe you are just jealous! don’t take that the wrong but I found what some to have said to be offensive…

^those schools aren’t backups, ESPECIALLY COLUMBIA!!! Columbia has a sub 10% acceptance rate…Some acceptable backups might by your in-state public school like if you lived in michigan, then michigan st. or if you lived in florida, then the university of florida. Or, some other schools with acceptance rates around 50%, like syracuse university or northeastern (EA)? Everybody needs a true safety. Its better to be safe than sorry.

trolllololol

One back-up I was thinking of was SUNY Binghamton or Stony Brook, all great schools that are in my state.

You will definitely be accepted to at least one of the top 3 schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton)!! You have amazing ECs! How in the world did you get into the NY Times and Superbowl commercials?

Again the question to the OP. What HS do you attend?

ScholarBound, amazing accomplishments! Do you have time to reflect on yourself? kind of man you’ll want to be? husband? dad? and son?
You sound like a very focussed & future-oriented, and that’s all good. Is there a father in your life?
You’re poor, Hispanic, speak Spanish? With everything that you had done, well, you need to take your SATs soon, perhaps ACT too. Make sure you prepare for those.
Last but not least, you’re fine. Any of these schools will be thrilled to have you! Don’t worry too much. Go and live your life! Smell the flowers, watch a sunset, listen to the birds & insects outside your window and dream away, sometimes!
Best of luck and more power to you kiddo!

wow those are some pretty amazing stats… I think thats as good of an all-rounder as it gets… so you’ll get into most if not all for sure …

chance back

NY Times: I wrote an article on the importance of education in youths. My English teacher helped me submit it.
Super Bowl Commercial: I had some indirect from a producer that lives a few blocks away from me.
Surprisingly, I do have a life, with many friends, a girlfriend, and hobbies, such as hiking and video games. One day I hope to become a husband and possibly a father.
Special Thanks to daivanla.
Anyone else

You must make sure you have a financial safety. Many of the elite schools will meet your financial need, BUT that may be in the form of loans. You will want to think long and hard before you take on a big pile of debt. Vassar and Columbia are not backup schools for anybody. Oh, and Cambridge/Oxford have very little money for Americans.
Best of luck!

These are the sentences that say “■■■■■” to me.

“NY Times: I wrote an article on the importance of education in youths.”

“I don’t mean to be vain or even incompetent”

" Band(Trumpet, Alto Sax, Piano, Violin)" what, no drums?

“No ACT/ SAT/ SATII’s but will probably get phenomenal grades.”

“I am very honest and the ideal candidate for college( or unless I think so).”

Wow, excellent stats! And amazing extracurriculars! But…I hope that the mention of SUNY Binghamton or Stony Brook was just a kind of joke… frankly, they are second tier schools. And even not among the first line of second tier schools, as both are currently ranked around 100 in the USNews - not to mention other rankings… Yes, as an in-state student, you can enter both schools for a decent price, but they are still just lower-second tier schools…

Thus, even if I know it sounds arrogant or whatsoever, but compared to HYPS, Columbia and especially Vassar are safely schools. (And Columbia is damm expensive!) Columbia easily beats Yale in research, and in word-ranking in many cases, still, Yale is definitely have much prestige, both in the US and worldwide. Although I would prefer Princeton over Yale, it’s not a bad choice ;)

Good luck!

P.S. Yeah, his stats are perfect. Maybe he’s just a ■■■■■, but what’s the fun in posting such things? Cant see any reason for that…unless someone is really, really booored…

what is a ■■■■■? I am new to CC (If that even is an exclusive CC term)

the SUNY schools are safeties and back-ups if I fail to gain acceptance to any other these other schools.

“Anyone Anyone”

yah on second thought, OP sounds as a ■■■■■. Troooollllll…

Okay, I honestly thought that College Confidential was a welcoming place, especially for newcomers, well I guess I thought wrong =(. A special thanks to the people who called me a ■■■■■, whatever that is, because I realized that I don’t need to worry about my chances, mainly because I now know that I can get into any college I want to. I now know that by asking unwelcoming people, such as you people, I will get no where. Honestly, I feel like you people are just envious of my prospects and accomplishments. I know I am better than all of you people, even if by saying that it makes me a horrible person with an ugly personality. Be envious because in one day I will accomplish more than most people have done in their entire life. Worthless people that only like to put other people down due to their own insignificant lives. By saying these words, I might be a ■■■■■, but at least I am honest.

I would like to thank all the people who were welcoming, thank you!!

By the Way, your the ■■■■■, not me…

Based solely on your extra curriculars, you have a great resume. HOWEVER, you haven’t taken any standardized testing yet. That just leaves me a little worried. You’re probably going to need a minimum of 2100 to get into your schools of desire.

Good luck, you have a lot going for you. Chance me back if you get some time? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1089274-what-my-chances.html

You have a nice chance at those schools; however, many other people also have nice chances. Best of luck- Joe

Just by your writing style, I can tell that you definitely did not get a perfect score on your PSAT. Surely you cannot be serious with this post lol - there are no Hispanic valedictorians at Hunter College, Stuyvesant, Jericho, etc.

Also by your research statements, I can tell they are utter BS. Converting “hydrogen and lithium” to “plausible energies?” Hydrogen has an extremely low energy density, less effective than gasoline. Their are many more viable options for plausible energies, such as thin film photo-voltaic cells. For a high school student to somehow manipulate the low energy density of hydrogen would be unbelievable…literally. Also the efficiency of solar energy is not that high.

Also, please try to spell your words correctly; even when typing quickly, it’s really not hard to spell 20% of your words correctly.

And you modeled for a Super Bowl commercial?..I think when skimming this, most people must have missed this key point that will necessarily get OP into HYPSM
