Essay:
probably the weakest part of my application, talked about how a hammock symbolized lessons that i’ve learned, English teacher read it and said it was good but not confident in it at all

No obvious hooks, white female from Minnesota

Any opinions would be amazing!

Dear disappointed1516 : Regarding your post -

A hammock? When it comes to images of hardwork, I am not exactly sure that a hammock is the metaphor you really want for a college application.

Our suggestion would be to put down the prose and write something that seriously states your case for Boston College. Your numbers and profile are solid and strong; this sounds like a case where your “empassioned” essay has let you down.

For goodness sakes, write something from your heart about Boston College - and do yourself a favor, back away from your previous English teacher reviews.

Well it’s okay that you didn’t take Subj tests because I submitted my ACT only and I got accepted. The BC requirement is either SAT I + 2 subj tests OR the ACT. so you’re fine there. I agree, maybe it was your essay? Cause your stats are awesome. You honestly never know :/

the only reason I did not write something more about BC and how much I wanted to go there was because I couldn’t write different essays for all the schools I was applying to, one essay had to cover 6 different schools because the common app won’t let you differentiate your essays. So I should write a whole new essay about how I would be a good match for BC? and they will accept that?

thanks for the input it really means a lot

Dear disappointed1516 : A reasonable bet would have been that all six schools to which you applied using the common application wanted to learn what you would add to their campus community - this is not the exclusive domain of Boston College. Now that you have to do the additional work to confirm your commitment to becoming a BC Eagle, this might be the right time to construct an essay specific to the Boston College experience and how you would augment that for all others at the school.
