chances for an out of stater with very good sats and mediocre gpa

-2180/1490 SATs-----if it matters i took the SAT's with zero preparation whatsoever junior year and got a 2150,,then i took it again and boosted my reading to 700 (best is 790-math 700 reading, 690 writing)
-my gpa is a 89 (we dont do 4.0s, but it would be like a 3.3 i guess, correct me if im wrong)howver guidance puts my gpa and then the highest in the grade, which this year is a 94/95)
-weighted my gpa is a 109 through junior year--it should go up cuz im taking 4 APs which carry an extra 30 automatic points with them)
-im 16/275ish (just outside top 5%) which is determined by weighted average--my rank should go up if it gets redone soon
-my school offers nothing (we got like 7 possible APs) ive taken the hardest schedule of everyone this year with 4.2 AP credits (bio is 1.2)
-i took US hitory AP last year and got a 5
-my SAT IIs are pretty bad as a result of no studying and deciding at the last minute i needed them--500 spanish 580 us history 740 math (i finished spanish 4 and us hisory junior year, and took sat IIs november of senior year so i forgot mostly everything in both)
-national honor society
-national merit scholar- commended
-4 years of spanish
-taken all honors whenever possible

-100 hours community service at underprivelaged camp
-i work ~30 hours a week
-i played soccer through 11th grade (i was named freshman MVP in a year when varsity went to the state finals; i played varsity 10th+11th
-i dropped soccer for an EMT class (which other prospects dont have and may set me apart) which is very timeconsuming and difficult
-took guitar lessons for 4 years
-i am an editor for the school paper..i review movies + music (which was my idea) i met with the owner of a local theater and got him to let me in for free after showin him the paper

my weakest points are SAT IIs (which can be explained by i took them without studying a year after i finished the class) and GPA(is a B+ average in ll honors/AP classes, so thats not bad, right?)
my essays are very good

my people?

you are a Reach

I think you have an ok chance... your GPA looks low on the surface, but you are well inside the top 10%.

instate i think you have a decent shot. out of state i think you are fighting an uphill battle.

Yes, can you explain the weird sort of thing you have going on with your GPA and rank? If you didn't include your rank, I would say your chances weren't terrific because of the GPA, but the rank sort of balances it out.

my gpa is like actually a 3.4/3.5 i found out today...but that is because i only have taken honors and ap classes ..i got 4 APs this year...so class rank at my school is based on weighted classes...and B+s in AP classes is easily good enough for top 10 material...and they say that the college reweighs your gpa based on curriculum rigor...and mine is on top soooo...

and as for WM being a reach---my sats are welllll above their averages 1490 on 2 is good enough to be in their top tenth id say..and i guarantee very few people have a harder schedule then me or are more dedicated to their extra curriculars (which is a fact that will show up in my essay)..i wouldnt say im a shoe-in, but i am pretty confident in my chances

Finally someone with a similar average lol. I ed'd to cornell but w&m is my second/third choice. Ill have taken 8 aps by the end of my senoir year in addition to a macro course I took at a local 4 year uni. My scores are kinda similar I have a 33 act which is like a 1480. I've been told by a bunch of people (including w&m grads) that w&m will be almost impossible for me oos and that even cornell is more viable so good luck. hopefully we both get in.

haha i know right...it seems everyone on here has 4.0's and ridiculous ECs....it doesnt give an accurate representation..based on the stats on collegeboard..it seems the average there is within our range...i think that the over achievers mainly use this site so we dont get a look at all the 3.5s with 1900s that are applying (which i would belive makes up a majority)

and yes good luck to you to

jam fan, you definitely have a chance.

there will be tons of kids at W&M with more than 5 AP classes under their belts though. tons.

lol i realized that... thanks bro
