Okay, so. I want to go to a good school, like an Ivy or an LAC. Or a UC. Basically any good school.

I go to a really good school and I am in honors classes and I get As and Bs. My GPA is 3.7 now. It's not weighted.
I play soccer and golf and am on JV, but hope to be on Varsity for soccer Junior year and golf next year.
I play the flute and am really good.
I am in a couple of clubs, and am going to join more next year: Newspaper, Debate, Environmental.
I'm interested in history.
I do a lot of community service and have a summer job.

That is a good well-rounded resume. I don’t know about the Ivys but certainly you’ll be attractive to some good LACs. I don’t know what a UC is.

Being a member, not in a leadership role, in a large number of clubs? not helpful. For college admissions, it is better to be in fewer activities and take on a greater role in each.

I would say you are on the right track, make sure to take AP classes 11th, 12th, and 10th grade if you can. Maybe AP euro or honors chem? Other than that, just get involved in a few clubs and activites that you are serious about, and maybe a sport or two. Good luck!

Yeah, how long have you played for? What chair are you in your band/orchestra? Made any honors bands? All-county? All-state? Scored anything significant at solo and ensemble festival? I don’t mean to be rude, but the term “really good” is extremely susceptible to variation.

How many hours? Where have you volunteered? Does it show a trend or is it scattershot?

Public or private? Is it ranked on Newsweek/US News?

If you seriously want expectations, you have to provide us with quantitative data.

I’ve played for 6 or 7 years and am second chair. I’m also in the jazz band at school.

I will probably have at least 100 hours by the time I’m applying and I tend to do stuff that is important to me (ex. my cousin had canceer, so I help a charity helping kids with cancer).

My school is Private and is ranked as one of the best in the nation.

I knew what you meant by “really good” flute player. What I like best about your resume is you appear to be doing activities because you care about them rather than being motivated by what you think will get you into a good college. If you’re getting those kinds of grades at a good private school then you have a shot at the Ivys.
