Was Suspended first week of 10th grade for fighting...and missed a month of school afterwards

My son's stats and scores are exactly like yours, except when he got his 74 in Honors Chemistry he was required to move down in science. At his school, you can not take Honors, let alone AP level unless you have at least a 89 in the class.

That being said, with his grades being similar and his SAT scores being similar, he could not even consider any of the schools on your list. They are all what we feel are reaches out of his league. I think you better get yourself some more safeties.

yeah but you didnt hear what i said...my school is top 10 in the state and a private school...lemme give u some examples of kids who got into schools

Lehigh- student had gpa of 84 and sat of 2020
NYU- student had gpa of 87 and sat of 1750
Emory- student had gpa of 91 and sat of 1940
Yale- student had gpa of 89 and sat of 2280

I did hear what you said. My son also goes to the top #1 or at the very least #2 top performing school in the state. Granted, it's Maine, a lot smaller, but frankly, schools are looking for more kids from Maine. Unless your critical reading score goes up a lot, his was a bit higher, those schools are huge reaches. The Lehigh student you mentioned has way higher SAT's then you. But good luck.

Your list of schools is fine. The suspension for fighting might be a significant factor depending upon how it appears on your transcript and what the circumstances were. To be blunt, maturity is your biggest issue and you may be your worst enemy.

thanks icy9ff8...and curlygirl why dont you stop bragging about your son and the student who got into lehigh had a ****in 84 gpa weighted...u obviously still dont get it.

I think the OP wants to justify his choices in public, and that's okay. Many hire college consultants to have someone to "talk" to. The original poster may encounter difficulty in admissions due to a disciplinary incident which has raised his anxiety level. He needs a friend and advice and is probably listening much better than is apparent from his typewritten responses. The OP is likely being much harder on himself than we realize. Constuctive advice is the best way to assist him.

wow icy9ff8 u just described whats going on with me perfectly...and glueeater...yes u are right as well..i do want praise because it helps me cope with my anxiety.

the key is the upward trend and an 89 is not a bad gpa lol...its a ****ing 3.6 for God sakes...NYU's average is a 3.63...sorry i dont have a 4.0 and a 2400 like most people on this site.
