GPA: 3.5-3.6 unweighted, 3.6-3.65 weighted
Course load: 4 Honors Classes, 5 AP classes, 3 AP self-study tests
Rigorous college prep school

ACT: Currently 26 composite (weak math, high English/Reading), but I'm retaking it and shooting for 28 at least (that's what my practice tests reflect). Reasonably expecting a 28-30 composite.

Average-Good extracurriculars.
Good recommendations.

Roughly 150 hours of volunteering at a local homeless shelter
100 hours of service for a small town parks and recreation
50 hours with Habitat for Humanity
75 hours as a Youth Wrestling Coach
Participated in a week-long service trip to Rosebud Indian Reservation

Volunteered for the odd events (service days, fundraisers, etc.), but nothing too big.

I'm looking to get more involved in political activism though - as it's my true passion. I've worked 50 hours as the campaign manager for a small town councilwoman (only 5000 people and the candidate was a family friend), and I'm trying to get more involved in the senatorial and presidential races that are coming up.

From Nebraska (NO ONE from Nebraska attended USC last year)

Want to major in International Business - I know it's a competitive program here, but if I don't get accepted on the onset, I intend on reapplying later if I enroll at USC

Oh I'd say you're definitely in USC, or you should be.
International Business is also my intended major. I don't think you CAN be accepted into on the onset. I believe we go in as Business majors with whatever concentration (Economics for me) and then in your sophomore year you apply for it.

scarolina is correct.you are accepted into the Moore school of Business, take a prescribed series of courses Freshman and Soph years and apply and are accepted for Int'l Business as a Junior.Last year they accepted 60 into Int'l Business, up 10 from the year before. Its very competitive and requires an application, essay and I think an interview.
They really like to see language study from what Ive been told, both pre college and in those first two years.
by the way, being from Nebraska can only help you !!

Oh, I see! So freshman year, I'm admitted to the Moore School of (Undergraduate) Business - and I apply for special consideration to study international business my junior year? But - in a worse case scenario I'm able to remain in the (non-specialized) business program?

yeah I too plan to do the same if I go to USC. But yeah, Moore is a pretty good b-school so even if you dont get into IB, its not the end of the world. I also hear one of the MIT guys is starting up a supply chain management program which seems like it will be very good. Another thing I hear is that even if you are not accepted into IB, you can still take all the classes from it? Just what I heard, don't know how much truth there is to that.
