Chances for Blair, Hill, Miss Porters, Putney

Hello, I'm in 9th grade right now and want to go to boarding school for my 11th grade year. I might apply as a repeat tenth grader. Does anyone know anything about repeating a grade? I'm in public school now, so I thought it might make an easier transition for me.

Grades:

Geometry Honors: 86
English-83
Earth Science-82
french-95
social studies Honors-90

I am taking Geometry and Earth science, and both of these classes are for students a year older than me. Also, my grades through middle school my average was 89-95% the entire time. I have been in advanced classes since grade 4. I know I can get better grades, and am shooting for all 90% and up for the rest of this year and all of next, and I'm sure I can do it.

SSAT:
I haven't taken it yet, but I plan on taking practice tests, studying, reading helpful hints, etc. I'm pretty sure I can get 85+ percentile. I have almost a year to study.

EC's:

TONS of community service(helping mentally retarded people, teaching kids with mental disabilities how to play sports, relay for life, helping kids with hw, etc.)

Cross Country-3 years
Track-2 years
Indoor/winter track- 2 years
french club
G.I.V.E(volunteer group)

I am a very bubbly person, and I know I will have a good interview. I plan on having a good relationship with my math and English teachers next year too.

Also, I need financial aid, almost a full scholarship. Do you know if the schools I listed financial aid is good? What other schools have good financial aid? What other schools should I apply to?

Somebody chance me please!!!

Brownie, I dont chance but I hope you get in. How did you find the Hill school? I looked at one mid-atlantic school, Blair, and the students are really nice there. I decided to stay NE and didnt apply.

the only one i really know about is Blair and i think you have a good chance to get in

thanks  and maddog15, you’ve visited blair? Whats it like?

Yes its nice although the town is a little run down but it`s close enough to NYC for week end bus trips. The girls dorms are new and I heard they are really nice inside. The campus has a nice vibe. Sports facilities are top notch.

Blair is a superb school in that it does a wonderful job at whole student education, combining excellent academics with a very supportive and nurturing environment. Applications are reportedly up about 20% this year alone with % accepted possibly in the upper 20s, so it is becoming highly competitive. Having said that, you sound like the type of student Blair is seeking. Best of luck.

Thanks  any more info? and does anybody know how hard it is to get into Kent?
