hey! I think your story and your hard work will definitely help you get into a great school. you also have a good shot at Brown. I talked to the Dean of Admission at Brown at a presentation in Bucharest and asked her about their FA policy. she said they had some students for whom they had even had to pay a plane ticket. so I imagine that if they do that for an international you'll get full tuition plus personal expenses coverage. stay focused and definitely apply to more Ivy League colleges as the process is very random...
I also need an FA full package. My parents make approx. $10,000 a year. they'll have to take a loan from the bank to pay for my plane ticket.I wish you the best of luck!
thanks for chancing me

Thanks for all of your feedback guys you have alleviated a lot of stress and given me a lot of good tips.

Have you ever visited the campus? I did a few weeks ago and it was very nice, awesome science library I personally fell in love with. I'd say bump up that ACT score and your GPA is a little confusing? Ethnic background? where do you live? coming from out of the northeast will help...but as for everything else, looks pretty good

I really will just beat a dead horse, but get those SAT's up

Ok so lets say I get a 33 on the act and become Spanish club president, and I am also starting a pro-life club. What percent chance would you guys say I have of getting accepted. Oh, and do you think I should apply ED or RD. Thanks again.

Tyler

I would say about 80%. As for ED or RD im not to familiar with the effect on admissions. Good luck

ED will increase your chances, but you have to make sure that Brown is your absolute number 1 choice.

If i apply to brown ED can i apply to another school if they have rolling decision. My second choice is Purdue and to qualify for scholarships you have to apply by November but they have rolling admission. Would this be braking an ED contract?

You can still apply, but if you are accepted to the ED school then you have to withdraw all other applications.

OK cool, I just need a backup plan if I dont get in. Thanks, that relieves a lot of anxiety.

You've got a good shot. Make a good SAt or ACT score and you will have an even better shot.

yea i take the ACT tomorrow hopefully i get a 33. Wish me luck!

I like your chances. Just get a high scotre on the SAT or ACT and I wouldn't see why you wouldn't get in.

Chance me for Carolina?

i'd say great chance
good luck :))

You asked about the pharmaceuticals research internship that I got- to be honest, I got mine through connections at a hospital that I had volunteered excessively at.

High School Internships

That should be able to help you find one if you're interested.

I think any college admissions office will be impressed with your credentials based on your disadvantaged background. But make sure your socioeconomic status doesn't become the focus of your application! Write one essay about it, but make sure others are about other unique things about you.

Secondly, if you love Brown (as I do; I was accepted ED), apply early decision!! Considering your income, you really don't need to worry about financial aid at a school like Brown--you will get a full need-based scholarship if accepted.
