Honest chances please:
SAT I 1450 (710 V and 740 M)
ELC UC GPA about 4.2 rank 30-25/570
SAT II 660 Writing, 740 Math IIC, 790 US HIST
EC's: 350+ hours comm service (200 @ hospital and 100+ in literacy programs)
Founder president of two political clubs (Freedom's Answer abd JSA)
Attended 2 summer enrichment programs (JSA and FTE) political and economics
Clubs: NHS, CSF, Rotary
Varsity Baseball

Reasonably good but not a slam dunk. That Writing score is an owie; I'd feel more confident if it were 740 or so.

I assume you're not being recruited for baseball?

transferjoe:

UCLA: Match

buuuuuuuuummmmmmp

Yeah i think it would be hard for UCLA to deny you...hopefully your essays shine as much as your numbers.

I'd give you 4 to 5 odds your in.

The fact that you are in a few clubs, but spend many hours is a good sign. Supposedly, UC admissions and other universities do not like a scatter minded student with 10 different clubs, but no leadership position (though you can't list 10 clubs on the EC's portion) but they prefer a few clubs that you hold leadership positions in (which you do); to them, this demonstrates focus.

The community service works in your favor. Sometimes it's even great to have community service in your field of specialty. For example, if you're planning to be a pre-med student, you intern and volunteer at a hospital; you take the SAT II 3rd subject test in your field of study (or sometime relatively close); you also take any AP tests that are relevant in that field.

Despite some people's feelings about test scores (that they don't count as much), I still believe strongly that it is a numbers game with numerous factors influencing admission. Your numbers are good, but as TheDad alluded to your writing score, it's low enough where you will have to take the Subject A Exams; unless you took the AP English Language/Comp or AP English Literature/Comp exams and earned a 4 or 5 on them.

You meet the "well-rounded" student: you play sports (varsity), you're active in the community, you're academically strong, and you participate in ec's.

I do believe you have a good chance of getting in; nonetheless, be reminded that UC admissions is an unpredictable game. With that said, I wish you the best and hope you're admitted.
