You are very competitive and have a great chance. Make sure to let us know how it turns out.

How do you know I am competitive?

Your GPA and test scores are all in the Cal Poly acceptance range. These two items are the most important thing to acceptance at Cal Poly. Competitive just means that you are in the running and can “compete” on a level playing field with other candidates. Make sure to apply to at least 7 to 10 other schools as well as there is no guarantee of acceptance to Cal Poly. Being a first generation college student and low income may actually help you more than being African American. Cal Poly, like all public schools in California are race blind in admissions. Again, best of luck! Cal Poly is an amazing school and you will love the new rec center. It is more like a country club than a place to work out.

That’s what I heard! I visited and saw the outside of it but never went inside cause it was still underconstruction. :(

I’m assuming you go to cal poly?

I am a Cal Poly parent and my son is a mechanical engineering student there. He loves it and the surrounding area. I’ve toured the entire campus and had a guided tour of the new rec center. There are several areas for weight lifting, an outdoor pool that rivals the best hotels, basketball, handball, and racket ball courts, four story tall rock climbing and bouldering walls, martial arts room, indoor jogging track, meeting rooms and many, many other features.

Wilson2, as I’ve told you in the past, you’re in the ballpark. Try to sit back and relax and just wait to see what they say. I don’t think there’s one answer. Sometimes it’s just the luck of the draw with college acceptances. My daughter is a third year Kinesiology major, as I mentioned, and she really likes the program. Best wishes to you! Did you apply to several other schools, as well? Good luck!
