You have an excellent chance! Here is the student profile for 2011. <a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions; You are right in there, if not above many folks. The school is also looking for more diversity – another plus.

With regards to major, I am not sure which is more impacted. Better to call the school or have others respond. Keep in mind that changing majors within a department is far easier then doing it between different ones. But can be done!

Wow amazing response! Just completely boosted my confidence  thank you!

Very good chance. Your stats are at the level of engineering applicants. You’ll almost certainly get into kinesiology. Also, Cal Poly uses an algorithm for all their applications, so do whatever will make you score higher on that. All the ECs don’t really matter, only the total hours and whether you do something related to your major, which you can fudge a little since they don’t actually check it.

Are you sure I have high chances?! I heard they only accept 50-60 students for kinesiology and it is super competitive!

Bump…

If you look at the CSU system overall, it is a good opportunity for people with low-income who may not have the means or may not have had the necessary education to get into a better university. For these people who have way lower stats than you, I would think that many of them who are not qualified will apply to Cal Poly along with the other CSUs as a reach and thus there will be a lot of under-qualified applicants being rejected. If you’re really worried about getting in, study for the SAT and retake it in the fall.

Wow I never actually thought about it like that. Thank you!

Hi! Are you the one who sent me a private message? I’ve been trying to reply to you, but it says that your address isn’t accepting private messages. I have a reply if there’s some way I can contact you! :)

Listen, I’m not sure how you have your settings, but everytime I try to reply to you here’s what I see:

“Djrod2 has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.”

So, as much as I would love to send you a reply message, I just can’t seem to! PLEASE let me know what you want me to do. Maybe try setting your private messages so you can accept messages? I’ll save my reply for when you are able to view it. :)

Two years ago, my daughter applied to CalPoly for the kinesiology major. Her SAT scores were higher than yours (2080) and her GPA was a bit lower and she got waitlisted and ultimately was not accepted. We called and they told us that they had 1470ish applicants for 58ish spots. I can’t remember the precise numbers but it was along those lines. I suspect that a lot the sports athletes choose kinesiology and they get priority. Just something to think about.

you can call to find out how many spots are open?
