I am currently a high school senior and I am in the top 10% of my graduating class. I have a 3.70 un-weighted GPA and my SATs score is 1370 (I KNOW I DID REALLY BAD).
I have taken 6 AP Classes and have received As and Bs in all of my AP classes. I have taken 4-years of a foreign language and have exceeded the A-G requirement for all the categories.
Also, my family have low income and i'm the first one in my family to attend college. So what are my chances for Cal Poly Pomona? Intended Major: Chemical Engineering.
P.S. I'm an Asian minority.

You should be OK with those stats. Take the SAT or ACT again and take a prep course. Study thoroughly for the exam this time. Believe it or not with a 3.70 unweighted GPA you may even qualify for the Kellogg Honors College over there. It is a good school that can offer great opportunities. Don’t let anyone tell otherwise. They especially have great opportunities for internships and CPP grads have been known to go to great grad schools. USC and Cal Tech among them. Good luck!

Thank you so MUCH! I’m just very worried about my chances for Cal Poly. I took the ACT last weekend and I believe I did pretty well on it!

If that is the case and your ACT is better, then just use those scores and do not submit your SAT’s. My son only submitted his ACT scores to Cal Poly, SLO and it worked out just fine. He is an engineer too.

If Cal Poly Pomona is your first choice, you might want to call the school and find out if they have early decision. Your chances of getting in for early decision is greater than for regular admission for most schools.

By the way, we were considering Cal Poly Pomona and we looked into the school very seriously. We liked what we saw and the engineering department is a good one. You will be happy there.
