I know it is a reach school, but does anyone have an idea of my chances to be accepted to Columbia University? I have a 2180 on my sat (R-770, M-710, W-700) and a 33 on my ACT. I am ranked 4 out of 315 with an unweighted GPA of 3.892 and a south carolina uniform grading scale GPA of 4.770. I have taken multiple classes online during the summer and during the school year. I have been a part of multiple clubs such as Beta club, Young Democrats, and international club, and also helped set up the Classic film club at my school. I have volunteered at the Humane Society in my county and also have a job where i usually work about 12 hours a week on top of school. I will also graduate taking 8 ap exams (all but 2 that my school offers) with scores ranging from 3 to 5. Thanks for any thoughts that you have

Dont know if it matters but I have also worked the primary and general election as an assistant poll manager

That’s a reach…

That’s helpful ^^

OT: Your gpa seems pretty decent, esp your rank. Though, your test scores are ok, in terms of columbia standards. Your EC’s also seem above average but nothing special. How involved were you in the clubs? What was your main/most passionate extracurricular? Has anything you done been related to your major? There isn’t anything that really stands out. There’s nothing wrong with that of course- but basically your chances are slim. Do you have any hooks? (URM, etc.) I would say Columbia is a mid-reach.

I have you for slightly less than 20% chance. Good luck.

Does it helped that I was a leader in my schools marching band and color guard and during that time won three state contests, multiple small competitions, grand champions at Western carolina tournament of champions, and marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade? I also forgot to put my SATII scores: Bio M-770, US history-740, and Chemestry-790

40%. Plain and Simple. Good Luck

^agreed. 30-40% chance. Your scores aren’t anything outstanding, and your ECs aren’t anything memorable. By leader, do you mean drum major/equivalent, or something else? That could help your chances, but just simply participating doesn’t raise your chances much. Chance me back?

Your SAT is pretty decent. I had a similar score and I’m a sophomore at Columbia now. Don’t worry, you’re in the middle percentile for that.
Your rank is good, too.
But ECs - you need leadership!
