Chances for Cornell ED?

I'm considering applying ED to Cornell and I'd like to know my chances. I want to become a financial engineer, so I'll apply for Industrial Engineering or Econ at the CAS. If possible, I'd like to know my chances for both schools separately.

Anyway, I finished my senior year in HS and I'm taking a gap year this year. During my gap year, I'll be pursuing two internships, one in economics and one in finance. If you want more details on my plans for the year, I can send them to you by a PM.

Also, I won’t be posting my entire application on this thread. If you would like to chance me, please send me a PM so I can give you the rest of the information.

Objective:[ul]
[]SAT I: 2320
[]SAT II: 800, 800
[]Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): Between 3.75 and 3.8 - My GPA really sucks, but I have a decent upward trend and a really rigorous course-load. In fact, my GPA is a 3.85 if you don't count freshman year.
[]AP: Took 14 AP exams, none of which were self-studied (this should give you some idea of my course-load). Also, I only took 4 of these exams in senior year.
[]Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): My school doesn't rank, but probably in top 10 or 15%.
[]Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Merit Finalist, many state-level awards in physics and econ
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[]Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): member of a few math and business clubs (with some leadership positions), national honor society, orchestra pit, organized an event that raised over $9000 for charity.
[]Job/Work Experience: I've had three internships so far in computer science and finance and one of them was paid.[/ul]
I’ll send details by PM of my EC’s, internships, summer activities, additional recs, and volunteer experience.

Other:[ul]
[]Ethnicity: Over Represented Minority
[]Gender: M
[*]High School Type: Public[/ul]

I’d say you have a good chance, your sat’s are impressive. and 14 ap’s are almost unheard of. what are your ap scores though. if they are mediocore, then your chances drop considering your lack of extracirriculars (not to say that raising 9000$ and 3 internships aren’t impressive). On the other hand if they are exceptional, you would be a cinch to get in. I’d reccomend applying to higher tier ivy leagues such as columbia and princeton

…AP test scores have very little to do with admission. More importantly, they show that you took the “most rigorous” courses available to you. The scores are not even required to be reported & Cornell would never see them if the applicant took only the ACT.

@csdad, I know. Admissions officers always say that they don’t really consider AP scores. That said, I’m still sending mine anyway because almost all my scores were 5’s.

Also, I’m taking the Chem SAT this October, if that matters much.

Can’t hurt, just wanted to make sure that people don’t get the impression that AP’s scores are a determining factor in admissions, as the previous poster had indicated.

you’re almost sure to get in.

No.

No.

Class rank is pulling you down but everything else is fine, SAT is excellent and courseload and your ECs are fine, awards in physics and econ could really help you. With solid essays and good recs you should have an above average shot ED.

bump…

Ask yourself why the bump. Do you need more encouragment or kudos to proceed? Would cheery words from another half dozen random internet strangers, most being HS students make suce a great difference to you?

C’mon, man.

@T26E4, I thought I was bumping my Columbia thread (which has only gathered one response). My bad.
