Hi I am newbie on this site. What are the chances to get into CS/CE with class rank 8.2% (56/682) and ACT 26. 10 AP courses, 2 DE courses and decent extracurricular activities
If you are a Texas resident, you have an automatic acceptance to the school with being in the top 10% and having a 26 ACT. As of right now, they do not have limits for the number of CS/CE students so I think you should get in. You would be in the lower 25% with the 26 ACT score. You might want to consider taking it again but if your math score was higher than your English, you should be fine. Also, apply early - it always helps.
The reason I bring up the ACT score is that for this year, they have a huge class of CS freshman. It could top 700 (that is what my husband thought he heard at a CS presentation). I know at the end of last year, the dept. was having discussions on how large of a dept. did they want and could handle. I have not read that they are placing any limits on enrollment for CS but its possible in the future.
Thank you GTAustin Yes we are Texas residents and my child registered for September ACT and Oct SAT
hi
My son admitted to CS today
Congratulations! I hope your son picks UTD. My DD is a freshman in CS and has found it to be a good program with a lot of support.
Thank you GTAustin. I hope so. We are from Austin and he is waiting on his lottery at UT Austin:) I will be in touch to get some info on next steps.
The first thing he should do is to retake the ACT for scholarships.
@getoveritnow - yes he is awaiting September ACT score and also taking Oct SAT
Improved ACT score to 32. I believe now he is eligible for AES Distinguished Level scholarship, correct? Do we’ve to do anything other than submitting new ACT score?
He should, but there’s no guarantee. As for retake, we got this 3 years ago from an admission counselor:
Congratulations on your admission and scholarship offer! If you have new test scores, I would definitely recommend that you send them as soon as you can. You are able to request a review of your new information by emailing aes@utdallas.edu . Make sure to let them know you have sent your new test scores.
So you have to request a review.
Thank you @getoveritnow
