Chances for Duke, Penn, Cornell

I think that you have a good chance! The upward trend is good, as is the rigor of your courses & Your EC’s are pretty solid  Good luck!

Ah, a TJ applicant. The school that never liked me, even though I was like 95% in everything. To be honest, it’s a solid recommendation all around. Depending on the saturated-ness of TJ applicants, you have a solid chance to get in.

Hmm. Another Governor’s School applicant. :)

UPenn- Low to Mid Reach
Cornell- High Match to Low Reach
Duke- Low to Mid Reach
UChicago- High Match

Good luck!

Hey guys this is slightly unrelated, I was nominated by my chem teacher to have a private meeting with a nobel prize laureate in chemistry, any ideas on what I could say to not come off as a total fool?

I pretty much agree with everyone else…columbia is a slight reach but if you keep up good work, you can do it!

WOW, your stats are amazing, I’m super jealous! I think you have an amazing chance of getting into all of the schools you have listed! Good luck!

wow great school–I think just try to get passion in your ECs–one or 2 things, and raise the SAT. Else, you’re in great shape.

Thanks for chancing me!

I’m guessing you go to TJ? username + little bit of information given kind of tipped me off…my brother actually went there and now goes to upenn.
I’d say you have a good shot at duke and cornell. reaches, but not impossible by any means. i really don’t know anything about uchicago admissions, so i won’t even try to predict your chances there. as for upenn, i know at least when my brother applied that very very few people from tj got in. it seems that the admissions reps at penn just aren’t fond of tj students for whatever reason. so i’d say that is a bigger reach, but once again, still very possible given your stats (which i would love by the way!)

thanks for the chance

Cornell- Match
Penn- Match
Duke- Match
Chicago- Match
HYPS- Reach (for everyone)

Take the SAT again and if you improve significantly, which you probably will the second time, then Cornell match, Duke high match, Penn low reach

Well,

in my opinion you are pretty much in at all the non ivies you listed,

and it would surprise me if you didnt get into at least one of HYPS

bump bump bump

holy freaking crap! You’re scores are friggin amazing! I think you could definitely get into all these places! Thanks for answering mine! You may as well take the SAT again haha

you’re fine, trust me :).

nobody can guarantee that whether you will be accepted or not, but you have really good stats, and you’ll definitely be admitted to your dream school :)

Wouldn’t surprise me to see rejection from all of them except maybe UChicago (maybe Duke).

just as an edit my gpa is now 4.37. Why would i get rejected from all of them? Is there a certain area that I really need improvement?

Admissions Processes at all these schools are not guaranteed. There are people with better stats than you that get rejected. So it’s really a toss up. If we had to pick, you’d probably get in, but we’re not the admissions officers.

Hmm, your list of schools is real competitive. I’d say you have a good shot at Cornell, UChicago, and Duke, while the rest are at least low reaches.

i think u have a very strong chance. with these selective schools its always hard to tell, but everything looks good! ur composite sat score is great, i would only retake it if u think u can raise ur writing score. but thats just me.

I’d say:
Cornell-in
Duke- mid/high match
Penn-high match

I agree that a higher writing score is totally within your grasp and would only serve to improve your chances. With your interest in science you might want to look at some UCs (Berkeley is obviously very strong in science, so is UCSD but has less prestige). I wouldn’t count HYPSM out based on your stats and ECs, I think the only thing working against you would be the quality of the other applicants from your school. Also, Stanford drops your freshman year grades for your GPA, if you have an upward trend this might help you out (other schools may do this as well, I’m just not aware of their policies).
