Any comments or ideas for improvement would be appreciated. Thanks!

Duke ED- very good chance
MIT EA- reach, but as good a chance as any
Chicago EA- match, but depends on essays
Cornell-Match
UPenn- very slight reach
Hopkins- match
UMD- safety

and 226 is NMSF no matter what state you live in

cool, thanx. are my e.c.s gonna hold me back?

your ECs arent that bad, 3 co-captains is very good, and all those varsity letters are enough to make your ECs at least average, if not better than average

also, UPenn is a slight reach if you arent applying to wharton, which would be a reach

I was deferred from Duke ED this year and your stats are much much better than mine so you have a very good chance

Im not sure I will be co-captain, but I figure I will be, since i will be a veteren senior.

you are still playing a leading role on the team, you dont need to officially be named captain

also, are you a URM?, do you plan on being recruited (if you have decent times, you can try being recruited at MIT and Chicago, they are d3)?

these change your chances a lot

darkrulerII: "cool, thanx. are my e.c.s gonna hold me back?"

I agree w/ ckmets13; your ec's aren't all that bad. Since you are a junior, you still have time to go out and get over-involved w/ a couple organizations or whatevers. That said, your PSAT and GPA (top 2% ain't bad lol) are awesome! For your list, I'd say:

Duke ED: Match
MIT EA: Reach (it's not you, way tough for anyone!)
Cornell: Match
UPenn: Slight Reach (see MIT; low accept rate, etc.; you have a good shot!)
Chicago EA: Match
UMD: Safety
Hopkins: Match

You have a great chance at all of these schools: you might be deferred from a couple of your early programs but your stats make it sure you'd be considered again, favorably, in the next go round. Good luck!

you might want to consider not applying ED to Duke unless you are absolutely certain its where you want to go. Your stats make you competitive RD.

no URM. Im not sure if i am recruitable. My best times when I apply will be like

18:00- 5K
2:12- 800
5:05- 1600

thats definitely NOT recruitable

http://mitathletics.collegesports.com/sports/m-xc/mit-m-xc-body.html

They get between 25 and 27 on 8k courses, and they arent even D1, they are D3

Nice stats though, youll make it into atleast 1 of your schools

I didn't think it would be, but I was just leaving that door open ;). Thanks for the link.
