I go to a very prestigious Christian Private School that tends to do very well at UGA

My Stats:
GPA: 4.0 (weighted according to my school's standards, so it may very well vary according to UGA's standards, though, I have been told by my college counselor that my school gets a slight curve)
SAT: 1240 650V 650W 590M
I've taken 4 APs since my Sophomore Year and at least 3 Honors. I'm in Beta Club and was recently given the chance to enter into the Nation Honor Society. My school doesn't offer much as far as extracurricular activities or clubs. But I have been heavily involved in the Fine Arts including Drama, Art, Singing, etc (including competitions)

I feel I did pretty good on my Part II application.

It's not that anyone is ignoring you. I'm in a similar situations with regards to UGA but basically feel, at this point in time, that it's a coin toss.
Good luck.

Thanks you very much... It's horrible having to wait so long, and I really hope we start hearing some admissions soon. Good luck to you as well!

You're right about that. In an era of instant communication and information, having to sit around for months waiting for a college admissions notification seems quaint. I know the Adcoms take their jobs seriously but when you're waiting for a RD college to announce and you've already got the EA and Rolling schools pressing you for housing deposits and to sign up for summer orientation the old line "love the one you're with" starts to ring true.

If I get into UGA in late March or April, it really doesn't leave much time to get to Athens, look areound and decide. Both my parents have jobs and arranging time off to travel is tough for them.

I'm sorry to take your time but after all the rush and excitement of applying, getting in or getting deferred the whole process has me burned out.

How well put! Unfortunately for me though, UGA is pretty much my only choice in college. I have one back up, and that's pretty much to stay in Augusta where I live. That's what's so nice about living in Augusta is that Athens is just an easy, easy, drive away. In fact a friend and I just took a trip down to Athens a couple of weeks ago, and some friends, who already go there, showed us around. I took lots of pictures, so if you'd like to see any of those just to get a feel of the campus I'd gladly give them to you. Though they're more of downtown Athens. Still, any little helps. And I really don't mind you spilling all that stuff, BELIEVE ME, I'm so completely ANXIOUS about. It's pretty much all I can think about: I'm having to find things to do to take my mind of UGA.

if i could say, i think you didnt get into uga ea only because you only have 3 honors classes.

i have a 3.6 gpa, 1240 sat, and ive taken the hardest courses possible at my school (no cps, 4 ap's, rest honors/gifted/IB) and I still got deferred. But hopefully rd will work from me. I have very much above average ec's.

I'm sure this won't make you feel any better, but I just had to say that it's really weird you got deferred when you compare me to you (I got in EA). My SATs were a lot lower (granted, my GPA was 4.0 unweighted...).

Admissions confuse me! It might've been my coursework. I've only taken 3APs and 3 Honors, but maybe it was the 2 college classes that pushed me over (When I applied, I listed English 101 and 102, but I'm taking Art Appreciation 100 as well)? I dunno.

Good luck to you all! I hope you get in. Maybe I'll see you there in a few months!

I would imagine that it's your gpa that got you in, since it was so good. I'm not even sure what my gpa is unweighted. But yeah, I really hope to hear a (positive) admission answer soon.

I read your post, I think the advise I would say is your putting all your eggs in one basket. There are too many stories about kids out there that didn't get into their #1 school and then they had a problem. It doesn't sound like from your post that you have applied anywhere else but perhaps you have. If not it's getting very late in the year. If you don't get into Uga it's not the end of the world. World's don't end for 16-17 year olds. You just go somewhere else get oriented to college life study hard and then transfer. I've had to have this same discussion with my D who is still waiting on her first choice and isn't much interested in the accepts she already has had.

17 years old I may be, but I have thought about the possibilities of not getting in, and I do have a stable back up plan. But UGA is the place I wanna go, and if I don't get it, then I'll know what to do.

So does UGA admissions people only pay attention to rigor of courses up to junior year? I didn't submit a mid-year report because I'm taking AP Statistics and AP World History, which didn't show up on my report card because they are full year classes; I figured it might be kinda useless if those classes weren't on there. But I think that there was a place on the Part I application where you put all of the classes you take as a senior; do they take those classes into consideration?

Then, in total I have 16 AP and Honors classes; my gpa is 3.9 weighted with 750 verbal and 640 math; so hopefully I can get in regular decision; I still can't believe I got deferred but oh well.

yes UGA is obsessed with course rigor. its just as important to them as your GPA and SAT scores.
and UGA admissions can seem random, so never think that you're a shoe-in

for example, there was a group of 6 of us at my school that applied to UGA. Our SAT's were 1200-1290, GPA's: 3.4-3.8, and we all took 3-4 AP and the rest honors or IB. 3 in, 3 deferred. and whats weird is the kid with the 3.4 and 1210 go in instead of the 1290, 3.7

Although anything is possible, I would bet you almost everything that you will get in RD. 750v/640m...that's well above the average. Your GPA is also above average. I don't know why you were deferred in the first place.
