Waiting anxiously..

I was deferred from EA and I'm waiting anxiously...

I took the January SAT and raised up the overall score by 130 pts..
My GPA is still the same (including the first sem of senior year grades)

Here are my stats:

SAT: 1740 / 2400

GPA: 3.62 UW (I calculated this WITH the honor points that my school gives.. Basically, the numbers that are on the transcript. so is that unweighted or weighted?)

Took total of 9 APs.

EC: Lots of Church Activities (praise team leader, VBS, missions, etc..)
Worked since 2007-2009
was president of one club

(it doesn't seem alot, but on application it filled the whole spaces)

Many awards received such as Honors Roll, AP Scholars Award, etc etc.

My stomach is doing flips every day and night thinking about UGA.. UGA truly is my number one school. I'm really hoping UGA would see that I took effort to bring my SAT score up JUST for them..

Any thoughts?

post your transcript w/o honors points your school gives. That will help with calculating you’re true UGA GPA so we can give you a better chance.

I thought in UGA if your school already gives the honor points (weights), then they calculate the grades as they are and not add any .5 or anything.
So I think that GPA is my true GPA that UGA would look at

You’re correct Dasani. I’d say you’re either in or waitlisted but certainly not denied IMO.

Gah I hope I don’t get wait listed.

I hope they see that I took a really rigorous schedule… and that’s why I have not the greatest GPA…

Which AP classes did u take?

and have you received any grades below a B?

I took

AP Music Theory, US History, Lang, Microecon, Macroecon, Psychology, Statistics, Environ sci, and Human Geo.

I did get one C on Algebra online class. But that was the only C.

dasini1215,
The way I understand it is that if you make a B in an Honors or AP class and your school changes the grade to a B+ or A on your transcript, then UGA does not add points. If your true grade is on your transcript, but your GPA has been weighted, then UGA recalculates by adding .5 to your true grade.

Do you have any backups? I think you have a good chance.

are you from in state or out of state?

I’m from state.

In-state/out-of-state does not matter at UGA. But I would be surprised if you weren’t admitted. Keep your head up, my best friend is in the same boat as you and has nearly identical stats (slightly higher SAT score of 1790).

Ahhh I really hope I Get in!!

imthecoolestkid, I’m a bit confused. You claim that in state/out of state doesn’t matter at UGA, but I was pretty sure it does? When I was there for a camp this summer, they stated that they only accept 10 percent of out of staters, where as I’m sure that the number is quite higher for those from Georgia. I was just curious as to which was true?

all your scores are in their 50% range for admitted students. SAT, GPA, you are in the top 25% for AP classes(3-5 is the 50% range).

You should be admitted.
