Sorry to make another thread...but I'm stressing out beyond belief!! I'm not going to lie...I am not the most qualified of students to consider applying to William and Mary but I am going to try.

I am about to send my Early Admission package to said college, but is it even worth it? Please look at some of my statistics.

Unweighted G.P.A=3.5
SAT for Critical reading=650
SAT for Math=540
CR and Math score=1190
Total SAT=1750
Ethnicity=Mixed; German, Swedish, Chinese
Gender=Male
In-state=Yes

Extraneous extracurriculars=3 high school sports, piano, etc.

Thank you tons!!

Are you in-state? That helps, of course. But, if it’s the school that you really love, go for it. What’s to loose? You didn’t mention any leadership, but be sure to include that if you can. W&M is a great school. Now be sure to explain why it’s your fav.

Congrats on being in-state and male … that helps a lot. (My OOS D was waitlisted with a 4.0 GPA and 1460 CR+M SAT, but hey I’m not bitter … much.)

The answer to your question is YES, if you would like to attend W&M you should send in you EA package. Your GPA and scores may be a touch low for W&M, but as the old saying goes “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” Good luck!

Lucky for you, William and Mary accepts a lot more in-state applicants rather than out-of-state. As for your credentials, your SAT scores are about 50 points below each average score, which is what a reach school should be, so I think that W&M is attainable, but at the same time, it is a reach school so be prepared. Don’t stress too much though, I’m sure you’ll be fine!

W&M is not an Early Action school - it’s Early Decision, which is binding. Just making sure you’re aware. Since you’re instate, your high school should have some kind of track record with W&M admissions. Where do your stats fall in comparison with recent students who were accepted there ED?

I’d say you have a chance, especially if your essays and recs are strong. Three hs sports and a musical instrument are impressive ECs. If you’re from an area of the state that traditionally sends fewer applications (i.e., NOVA), your chances are better still.
