Hello I am a Russian, Jewish Immigrant and attend a Prestigious Jewish High School. What are my chances on Early Action as History major to SCU.

SAT VERBAL: 640
SAT MATH:610
SAT WRITING:690
SAT 2: 600, 740
GPA:3.1 UW, 3.5 W
I have difficult schedual, and have a tremendous amount of ECs. Too many to put on the app even. I have great recs and my low gpa is a result of my early high school years. I improved 1 whole gpa point each year....2.0 frosh, 3.0 soph, 4.0 junior..........

DD is a freshman at SCU. She was accepted EA. Her SAT scores were much the same as yours. Her GPA was a bit higher (3.8 weighted), and her class rank in the top 5%. SCU did have a much higher yield than expected for this entering class, and actually ended up with a class about 130 students more than they expected. For a small school, that is quite a large number. There is speculation that they may be more modest in their admits this year. It seems that more folks who apply and are excepted are enrolling year after year. Personally, I think your stats are in the range for EA...you'll know before Christmas if you applied EA. Your upward trend is good. This may sound "harsh" but they may wonder why you did so many EC's...and perhaps that was what caused your grades to be lower than perhaps they might otherwise have been. But it's too late to change that now! Good luck to you...keep us all posted.

yikes my sister hasn't heard yet :( in my opinion her sat/act are horrible, but Gonzaga admitted her a couple days ago so i'm praying Santa Clara will do the same, but i'm not very optimistic and she hasn't heard back yet. they claim they don't really look at test scores and I think the rest of her stats are good enough for SCU.

My friend had a 3.6 gpa and was ranked 26 out of 576 students....with really strong reccomendation letters (and one from a grad and huge donor to SCU).....she also has leadership and sports.

But her SAT was just over 1000..

They said they can't make a decision at this time, and they want to see her 1st semesters grades before they decide.

Congratulations Artem!! If you go for the accepted student days or preview days, you may see my DD who will be an SCU Student Ambassador beginning in January.

BTW....to the person who heard that SCU does not look at "test scores"...I'm not sure where you heard that...but my DD was top 5% in her graduation class with an outstanding GPA and EC commitments in music and one sport. She had excellent letters of recommendation also. She did get accepted, but if they hadn't looked at her SAT scores wouldn't you have thought she might have gotten some merit aid? Well...she didn't. They DO look at test scores...otherwise they would be an SAT optional school.
