you definitely have a shot. your scores aren't phenomonal, but its clear that you are pushing yourself by taking challenging courses.

your GPA and SAT scores don't look too hot. you better have some stellar essays and EC's.

Yes, you have average SAT scores and grades, but grades show a definite upward trend, which is good. What will help you is all your leadership and other awards. That will make you stand out. I say you have a good shot. Good luck!

Well I should probably mention that I was diagnosed with severe depression during my freshman year, which explains my rather lower than usual grades.

Well I should probably mention that I was diagnosed with severe depression during my freshman year, explaining my rather lower than usual grades.

Still, your scores and GPA aren't on the high end. You are definitely a reach although your personal character qualities seem good with your volunteer work and EC's. Since you are openly gay, I question why you want to go to Vanderbilt. It is becoming more tolerant and diverse but I can assure you, you will face plenty of intolerant people as well, probably more than at many more leftist universities.

Well andrew, I've faced intolerance throughout my whole life. Honestly, I AM asian and gay. It's inevitable, and I deal with it. "Suck it up" is pretty much my motto. I know that I'll be bounded by the ignorance of others at times, but it won't be anything that'll stop me from pursuing an education. Like you said, the campus is becoming more tolerant and diverse and I'll only help add to that.
