Chances for ED at Colgate - International Applicant!

<p>Hello,</p>

<p>I posted this in the Colgate forum but I guess since no one goes there I might as well re post it here.</p>

<p>I am a senior at one of the finest high schools in Pakistan, and I'm going to be applying early decision to Colgate University this November. I am going to need full financial aid to attend since my parents cannot afford the costs of a US education. I've done CIE O'levels (eight straight A grades) and am currently doing 4 A'Level subjects in high school.</p>

<p>GPA : 4.0
SAT : 1370 - CR 690/Maths 680 (Colgate doesn't need VW)
Class Rank : With in top 5 out of 637 students</p>

<p>Colgate ED is a match but the fact you need full financial aid makes it a gamble for anyone.</p>

I’m working on my RD applications right now. Isn’t the deadline 31st December ? Also any idea how much of a deciding factor full need is ?</p>

<p>Financial aid applicants are selected separately and typically it means the selectivity is much, much greater. The more FA you need, the more difficult it is to get in. To have a real-er idea of your odds, divide the acceptance rate in two. That’s why even if academically it’s a match, due to financial aid it’s a gamble.</p>

<p>I asked about the RD applications because some students wait until they have the results of ED to start on them :)</p>

<p>I see. Where do I stand a better chance, at Colgate or Amherst (which is Need Blind) ?</p>

<p>I’ll start on RD applications once I’m finished with my ED one. Our deadline is 15th.</p>
