One of my friend has two C's and at least 5 B's and under 20% class rank. Do you think she will have a chance for ED?
SAT:1350

She doesn't have a CC account so I'm just posting for her.

She probably doesn't have a good chance, unless she has some amazing ECs.

wow ................2 Cs.

yes not so good. my cousin went to hopkins and he was a national merit semifinalist. the person who went from my school last year was president of red cross (a club with well over 100 members in my school). extremely active with charity. unfortunately ur friend doesnt appear up to par from the info ur giving us.

ya, any major talent to speak of?

heh no, she only has a few medicore ECs with like no leadership. Yeah 2'Cs is already pretty bad and she didn't even take the hardest classes. She thinks she'll get in because it's Early Decision (they take 50%). With these stats, she's also applying to only Cornell and Princeton if she doesn't get in Hopkins ED, which I think it's kinda not the best idea. You guys think she should try some safety schools?

um ya! i mean ok ED to Hopkins, fine she wants to try but Pton and Cornell RD? If she had taken the hardest courses and had a niche, i couldve seen it, but there is no way she should only apply to those three

btw, tell your friends she's not alone, im in very bad shape, didnt mean to come off harsh if i did

yeah I know what you mean abrandel, I didn't want to say 'you def wont get in' cuz they'll be pretty mean even if may be reality. Is cornell harder or easier than Hopkins?

oh come on abrandel05 - i know that you will get in =] you have awesome ECs and i'm pretty sure you challenged yourself thoroughly.

i'm not trying to be negative or anything, but why would you apply to a school just because of it's acceptance rate? did she even visit JHU? i mean prestige plays a part in picking the school... but that can't be the only reason why she applied.......

well she wants to go to JHU because it has a good premed program and she just wants to go to a prestigious school so that ppl'll think she's smart or something. I guess that's the reason many ppl go for these schools?

yeah. but she may have underestimated the quality of the early decision applicant pool.

maybe she thinks that an sat of 1350 is reallllly good, sure it's good (its better than mine lol) but still the MAIN thing that schools llook at would be grades. in fact, the JHU interview person i talked to said that SATs are teh LAST aspect of the application they look at; you also have to realize (i mean your friend) that people who apply to JHU are those who probably "belong" there or have some kind of background they feel will get them into jhu, so most of them will probably have more than 1300 SAT. and umm tell ur friedn to apply to a safety school, wouldnt want her ****iness to deprive her of a college education. princton, cornell, and jhu arent exactly the easiest schools to get into. another thing, even tho jhu has an ED acceptance of 50%, it also raises its standards for ED. even tho JHU doesnt have a cut off, but in RD, say it admits students with 1100 SAT, in ED, it will most like admit those with 1200.... just saying
