Chances for Fall 2010 Tranfer: NYU Columbia Fordham Barnard

Hi everyone! I am new to these boards and i am hoping to transfer from my current University.
I will be transferring as a junior for the fall '10 semester.
College stats:
GPA: 3.3 (low i know)
Credits: 67
Majors: Economics and Business Management
EC: Assistant to the Dean of Students
APICS (national operations organizations) president of the financial committee
Member of the campus business society
member of business leaders society
member of Sigma Beta honor society
Wall street summer program
Auditing summer internship
Drill team member
Blood drive committee assistant coordinator
IN HS i was NY a state champion gymnast for three years in a row so i mentioned that in my application.

I have recommendations from my schools dean, my professor who used to be vice pres. at JP Morgan and my cousin who is an NYU alumni. (She mentioned that NYU likes to receive e-mails from alumni about prospective students.)

I am applying to NYU, Columbia, Barnard and Fordham
NYU is my first choice. I applied in HS but i had no EC other than gymnastics and got rejected. Columbia i know is shooting for the moon but i would like to try. I would be ecstatic is i was admitted to Barnard and Fordham is my safety. Can someone please chance me for these schools and let me know your opinions please? Thank you.

Pretty please :D

What school within NYU? Economics in CAS or Economics in Stern?

barnard and columbia aren’t happening. missamericanpie will help you with nyu, and fordham i think is the only one that you may have a chance at. since all of these are in the city, maybe look into some CUNYs as well.

I’m applying to CAS

okay, thank you for your input ironicallyunsure.

You may want to rethink the way you post on this board though. You are putting yourself in a very negative light. I would have liked a form of constructive criticism rather than your brash pompous answer. Thanks anyway though.

The average GPA for CAS is around a 3.5, but you also have many ECs. Stern is the school that would have business management, but it is VERY competitive to transfer into, as it has very few spots for transfer students.

If you are not opposed to studying economic theory in CAS, I would urge you to apply to CAS, just because you would be a more competitive candidate in CAS. I think you have a decent chance for CAS.

I would also look into Baruch College for business. It’s a CUNY school, but their business school is well known in NYC.

hmm i guess it didn’t sound so mean in my head, sorry. what i meant is that you may be aiming too high with columbia and barnard. for the nyu comment, i just meant that missamericanpie is more knowledgeable because she successfully transferred into nyu and is always ready and willing to help prospective nyu transfers.

i agree with baruch college for business. are you looking to stay in just NYC or would you go to other cities? you’d have more choices if you’re willing to move around a bit.

also, random sidenote: i started at SB, too.
